Review of John Frieda Luminous Colour Glaze in Chocolate to Espresso. I am currently using John Frieda Shampoo and Conditioners with this product, to enhance my naturally medium colour brown hair. I have given up on colouring my hair at home because it costs to much and doesn’t last long enough. So, I thought I would try this………….
Price: This product (190ml bottle) was priced at £6.99 in my local Boots store. I was very pleased at the offer on this too, as all John Frieda Hair products were 3 for 2! So, as well as the Shampoo and Conditioner I purchased this product too. I ended up getting the cheapest product free and making quite a bit of a saving. As I have been pleased with this brand in the past, I really was excited to give it a go! For the price, I thought this worked out quite good value, as instead of buying hair colours now this would be more economical and less hassle. I also wanted something that was kinder to my hair than keeping on colouring it.
Packaging:
The bottle comes in a plastic case, which you pop the top off to get to the bottle. I’m not sure why the bottle needs this much packaging really-guess to make it look expensive and special. I like the see-through effect on the outer packaging and the colours on the bottle work really well with the brand it is selling for hair. The creamy colour to the bottle and brown text used enhances the ‘Brunette’ selling range. The bottle stands easily on it’s own, and cap is easy to twist off to get to the product itself.
Product: This product also comes in a Blonde range, which I think is great. I have also seen some ‘Red’ ranges for red-heads in the John Frieda range. I have straight and quite fine brunette hair that is in desperate need of a pick me up! I had seen lots of TV advertisements for various John Frieda products, and I think I remember one for this product where the Models hair sparkles and shines with a radiant colour. I want some of that! The ingredients in this product include: Citric Acid, Pearl Powder and Propylene Glycol. The product promises this is: ‘An easy to use salon inspired treatment to reawaken lacklustre brunette hair with multi-dimensional shine and a hint of rich brown colour’.
Use: After Shampooing and Conditioning my hair in the shower, as directed, I squeezed excess water from my hair and smoothed through a medium sized blob of the product through my hair. I have short hair so I didn’t need much a blob the size of a ten pence piece was sufficient. The product smells fine, nothing too-overpowering, like a strong conditioner I suppose. The product is brown in colour and looks like a hair dye. Be careful when putting this on your hands and elsewhere in your bathroom, as it does tend to leave a mark-much like self-tanning treatments. I was left with a small orange stain on my hand where the product had been, but came off quite easily with a good wash. You have to leave the product for at least 3 minutes, which I did.
It is said that colour intensity enhances over time, and I have used this product 2-3 times in about 3 weeks. The first time my hair appeared shiny and felt soft. The colour didn’t really begin to appear until by the 3rd attempt. I started to see a gradual colour emerge, just a nicer brown giving my own hair colour a lift. I am still using this product so I hope that the colour will intensify even more. The effect is not the same as you get with a newly coloured hair session, but for my purposes of not wanting to damage my hair and just to lift what I have naturally-this is good for me. My hair is shinier after using the product and is lifted with a hint of colour. The product is also so easy to use-in the shower then go! Great!
Conclusion: I would recommend this product to someone who hasn’t got the time or money to keep dyeing there hair. Although the results are not as spectacular, the shine and hint of colour is very nice and great for a boost if you are going out in the evening. This product is good value for money when it is on offer. The amount I use of the product isn’t much either, so will last me a long time. I did not have any reactions to the product and am pleased with the results. The only downsides are the amount of packaging used for a small bottle, and the stains you get on your hands-which I have to say I didn’t get anywhere else on my body whilst in the shower.
