Over the summer holidays I was bored so I decided to by some peroxide and dye my hair! I know it may sound drastic but I actually only gave myself a few natural looking highlights. Unfortunately about a month later my beautiful highlights that everyone had said looked so nice started to turn ginger.
I lived with my very odd looking ginger highlights for a few weeks but then decided that enough was enough and that I was going to have to do something about it. So I headed to my local boots armed with my boots card (which I couldn't live without!) and some money. I spent a while looking at all the products for blonde hair and finally decided to splash out £4.25 on John Frieda Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Shampoo formulated for use on honey to caramel blondes.
The product comes in a giant tube containing 250ml of shampoo which is said to Instantly brighten and refresh blonde hair by ridding it of dulling mineral deposits. The product is designed for natural, colour treated or highlighted blondes. The packaging is well designed and looks very stylish. As well as being formulated for use on honey to caramel blondes you can also get to other types, one of which is formulated for use on champagne blondes. A conditioner is also available but I have never used it.
When I got home from boots I used the shampoo and found that very little is needed as it lathers well. The shampoo smells nice but I can't really describe how it smells because I can't say it smells like anything I’ve smelt before.
The result...
After a long time waiting for my hair to dry (I couldn't blow dry it because I broke my hair dryer (long story!)) I looked in the mirror, and as if by magic my summer highlights had reappeared brighter blonde than ever before! My hair also felt very soft and smelt lovely. I was well pleased and spent the rest of the day admiring my new hair (how sad am I!).
I still use my John Frieda shampoo (but won't have to for much longer because I’m letting my highlights grow out) and have found that the bottle lasts ages because only a tiny amount is needed. I think that this product is well worth its expense and I'd recommend it to anyone who's highlighted hair has turned a funny shade of ginger.
I use this shampoo but as its so expensive maybe only once a week.

I have used this and have found it to be a little less successful as you did. I use Paul Mitchell products now and they are great!
However, there is no product list for this shampoo/conditioner but ask your local hairdresser about it. You will definitely notice a difference.
Oh and don't struggle with letting ya highlights grow out, have some tints put in that match your own hair coulour and you can grow out colour without it being noticed.
I have a great hairdresser and her little tips actually work without ruining your hair! Thanks for a good read anyway, Paula :)

Wow, sounds miraculous! I might give this a try because I've had the same thing happen to me. I had blonde highlights done in Spring but then had them professionally dyed over when I got roots, but the highlights came back as ginger when I went on holiday so I might try this! Thanks, Jess x
