I started using Sheer Blonde when I saw the adverts which many of you probably remember: 'I love you, I love you, I love you, love you, love you - yes I do!'
It was also recommended to me by my hair dresser. He told me not to use the conventional shampoos and conditioners, such as Herbal Essences and Pantene... apparently they are bad for your highlights, they dry out your hair and they leave traces of plastic. Sheer Blonde can be used by people who are naturally blonde or who have colour treated or highlighted hair. I'm sure it can also be used by brunettes and redheads who want to lighten their hair slightly.
However, Sheer Blonde transformed my hair... I came out of the shower with it sleek and shiny and I had no knots left. Having thick hair, I usually struggle with combing my hair afterwards. I also followed my hairdresser's tips about washing hair to gain the optimum results. Firstly, wash your hair with shampoo, twice if you find you get greasy hair. Secondly, apply the conditioner, especially to the tips which suffer from split ends. Leave the conditoner in for around 10-15 mins. This works really well, and can be done only once a week if you don't have the time for every wash. Rinse out using luke warm water, instead of hot water. This is so that your roots can close up. The hot water opens the pores at your root. If your pores are open, when you brush your hair afterwards, you can easily pull the hair out or strain it.
There are a couple of negatives which must be noted. Sheer Blonde products are fairly expensive, but the saying does go, you get what you pay for. The shampoos and conditioners are around a fiver. Also, there isn't a great smell. There are two types of product, one for caramel to honey blondes and one for platinum to champagne. The caramel to honey blondes shampoo and conditioner doesn't really have a distinctive smell, and sometimes it leaves the odour which you stepped into the shower with - not so nice if you've been smoking next to an exhaust pipe for the day. The platinum to champagne blondes has a more redeeming smell.
The packaging of the product is pretty simplistic, in fact they look like shaving gel containers, just an average cornet shape. They are also see-through, good for judging how much you have left.
There are many other products in the Sheer Blonde range other than shampoo and conditoner. For example, there is an intensive conditioner, a bit like a hair mask. This can be used on a bad hair day. One of my favourites is the Gleam Cream, this is applied to dry hair, and is great if you have a tendency to get straw-like hair. It is also good to put on before using hair straighteners, so you don't damage the hair. The hair serum gives your hair a great shine and stops it from getting knotty during a night out. There are also your conventional hair sprays and mousses which are designed especially for blondes.
A lot of the product contain natural ingredients to boost your hair. Such as lemon peel, camomile and sunflower seeds. The conditioner contains pro-vitamin B5. Not sure what that is, but it sounds good...
I would recommend this to both male and female blondes...but especially to those with dulling highlights.
