In search of something to brighten up my hair from the dull, drab state it was in, I came across this in Boots (the fact it was on a 3 for 2 offer persuaded me even more!) It's specified as for people with fine, thin or limp ( i.e. my!) hair.
*** What does it look like? *** It comes in a deep blue, transparent squeezy tube with white and orange writing splattered across the front. The tube's very tall and this helps give the impression that it contains more than just 250ml. The tube's pretty cool, looks quite sophisticated and professional. However the lid at the base often fills up with the shampoo so when you open it, it escapes over all your hands. Looks good but not very practical as it can spill (and waste) the shampoo.
*** What it claims to do *** The shampoo basically claims to magically change lifeless hair into thick, gushing with life and vitality. Sounds great but that's not all! The shampoo will give your hair "full bodied shine" and make hair more manageable and style-able. It claims to do this by getting rid of all the gunk that builds up in your hair leaving it dull and lifeless, then leaving polymers in your hair to "crank up" the volume. Pretty impressive stuff!
*** The actual stuff *** The shampoo is clear and quite runny. I think it's a bit too runny as the first time I used the shampoo it dripped right off my hand before it even made it onto my hair. Its smell is very unique. The only thing I've ever smelt remotely like it is those purple sweets that no one likes but everyone eats, called Parma Violets or something(?)The smell is quite strong but very refreshing.
*** Using it *** After having lost half of the shampoo to the bath, I eventually managed to get a reasonable amount onto my hair. The instructions are just the norm- apply, lather, rinse, repeat if desired. Easy enough. I massaged it into my hair and was immediately left with a lot of rich lather of my hands. After ringing it out, and it took quite a while to wash all the foam out, my hair was left a little dry, tuggley and really quite limp.
*** Results over the whole day *** I then towel dried it and immediately my hair felt a lot softer. After blow drying it, I can't say that I noticed any great changes promised as far as the volume of my hair was concerned, although it did seem sort-of bouncier. It felt quite a bit softer and was definitely more shiny. It also smelled really nice and sweet so overall I was fairly happy with the results.
*** Recommend it? *** The smell lasted for a few hours but then disappeared, which was a shame as I really liked it. My hair did stay shiny and the "clean" feeling remained for the entire day. Though using John Frieda conditioner is recommended (naturally!) I didn't find it necessary as my hair was left fine without it. I do prefer it to my normal shampoo, Timotea, but it is that bit more expensive at around £3.50 for 250ml, so I probably won't buy it again, unless on some special offer.
So, to conclude, I would probably recommend this but personally will only be using it for a treat as it's too expensive for everyday use.
Advantages: Prettu well did what it said Disadvantages: Ummm...
...was a hairstyling pack by John Frieda. The first thing I noticed was the huge yellow sticker on it - £1! It was worth further investigation. I quick look confirmed that there were three different packs availible: a Frizz Ease one, a Sheer Blonde One and a Ready to Wear one. These are all John Frieda ranges. I reached for the Blonde one, being blonde, it seemed the natural choice! But since they were only a quid (reduced from £3), I picked up a Ready ... ...Oooops, haven't told you what's in the pack yet have I?! Because I've tried the Ready to Wear one and that's what this opinion is about, I'll tell you about that one.
Right.
In the pack, you get:
~Ready to Wear Thickening Shampoo
~Ready to Wear Instant Conditioner + Shiner
~Ready to Wear Shimmer Serum Ultra Light Glosser
~Ready to Wear Upbeat Whipped Styling Cream
Oooops, something else I forgot to mention, these are trial size packs! One ...

Advantages: A luxurious product that really creates volume and shine. Disadvantages: Lids are hard to open, expensive to buy when not on offer.
John Frieda ‘Luxurious Volume’ Thickening Shampoo. I have used John Frieda products in the past, and I have been impressed by the quality and packaging. I usually only buy products from this range when they are on offer, as they are just too expensive for me. This one was on offer, so I thought I’d treat myself and give it a go!

Brand: I had recently seen the TV advertisements for this range of products and the models hair in the adverts looked fantastic, full of volume and so shiny. I wanted to look further into the John Frieda brand, so I visited the website at: www.johnfrieda.co.uk.

Advantages: Gives your hair more body! Disadvantages: The medicated smell of the shampoo
...My mum had used John Freida products before and had recommended them to me, so when I saw that there's a shampoo for fine/limp hair I had to have a go. The smell isn't very attractive - it's a kind of medicated smell, not too nice really. However as I have mentioned before in one of my reviews, it is always advisable to purchase the same brand of conditioner as well. I bought the Instant Conditioner and Shine which smells really nice and...well that's ...

Advantages: Gives fine hair body... Disadvantages: ....of the kind found on a corpse!
There are two types of men: those who believe shampoo is basically perfumed washing up liquid, and those who fall for the adverts and try every new shampoo which comes on the market. I am the latter - with knobs on.
Why? Well I've always had fine hair. You know the type I mean, it's the sort which, if you sleep on it, you'll wake up looking like you've been making love to a Van De Graaf generator all night. It's the kind of fine, flyaway hair which ... ...give it some body. And as I get older there's slightly less of it - so I need to make the most of what I've got. Think of it as a lawn. When it starts to thin out a bit, you perk it up with some extra seeds and a bit of fertiliser.
So I looked forward to trying this shampoo, in the hope that it would magically transform my fine, flyaway, flat hair into a lush quiff.
It didn't.
The particular substance which imparts the thickener to the shaft of ...

...of sophistication to it - John Frieda's thickening shampoo.
The result was fantastic my hair felt fuller and it held my new hairstyle well, even to the touch it felt thicker and not at all like my usual hair. It bounced around like just like the adverts.
However, there is always a downside and my scalp bore the brunt. it was fine for the first day or two of use but after that it felt itchy and when scratched was flaking. so while the ends of my ...
