John Frieda ‘Luxurious Volume’ Thickening Shampoo. I have used John Frieda products in the past, and I have been impressed by the quality and packaging. I usually only buy products from this range when they are on offer, as they are just too expensive for me. This one was on offer, so I thought I’d treat myself and give it a go!
I have recently had my hair cut quite short and I always like to use a nice shampoo and conditioner to emulate that ‘just been to the hairdressers look’. I do have quite limp hair that goes greasy quickly.

Price: At my local Boots store, I discovered this product on offer at £6.50 for two! So I purchased the Shampoo and Conditioner in the ‘Luxurious Volume’ range. Originally each bottle costs just offer £5.00 which I think is expensive. You do get a large bottle of product though which is great. I think this offer was so good, and was waiting for an opportunity to buy it. I also got my Boots points.

Packaging: I was really drawn to the blue themed packaging of this range, the bottles are quite large (250ml) and the product inside looks very luxurious. I really like the gold lids on the bottles too, I think the blue and gold work well together. The text on the bottles is quite faint but readable. I did notice when using the product the flip-lids on the bottles can get quite stiff at times, I have had this problem before with John Frieda shampoo and conditioner bottles, it’s frustrating when you are in the shower and have to reach for a towel to help open the lid!

Brand: I had recently seen the TV advertisements for this range of products and the models hair in the adverts looked fantastic, full of volume and so shiny. I wanted to look further into the John Frieda brand, so I visited the website at: www.johnfrieda.co.uk.
The website is very sleek and professional looking, easy to navigate around too. I noticed to start with that VOGUE have been quoted as saying about John Frieda: “John Frieda is the founding father of modern hair products”. John Frieda opened his first salon in London in the 80’s, and the rest as said on the website is: “In 1988, his first product range, which was geared for the needs of fine, unmanageable hair, debuted in Boots the Chemist as the John Frieda Signature Line and its key product, Thickening Lotion, was an overnight success. The following year, his prodigious talents were confirmed when he was named "Hairdresser of the Year".

John Frieda’s product range seems to cover all hair types and for real needs of hair. These products are seen as luxurious items and are a real treat for the everyday woman.

Product: In the shower, after wetting hair and help from the towel to get the bottle open! I smelled the product and it really is nice, nothing to strong just nice. The product is quite thick and translucent. You don’t need much, a small blob in your hand will do, of course I have short hair so maybe a little more is needed for longer hair. The product lathers up quickly and feels nice on hair. The blurb on the bottle states that the shampoo: “Helps build hair’s inner strength & starts the volume process in the shower.” The ingredients include: Benzyl Alcohol and Sodium Laureth Sulfate.
It also recommends using the volume Conditioner afterwards which I did.

After towel drying my hair, I blow-dried and styled my hair as normal. I did notice more of a height to my hair and a great shine. The great thing too is that I usually have to wash my hair daily because of greasy roots, but with this product it seems to help that and keep it cleaner for longer. I am now washing my hair every other day. I love the volume the product gives to my hair, it makes it easy to style too.

Conclusion. This product is a treat for me, and although expensive when not on offer, the product lasts a long time especially as I am now washing my hair every other day rather than daily. A little each time goes a long way too. I really like the John Frieda brand and product range, seems to be something for everyone and luxurious.
Although the lids are somewhat hard to open to get to the product, the product itself is great to add volume and shine to hair.
