"Adult" meaning "grown up" rather than "porn" .... although as I'm sure GR-Design will tell us, it could have some uses there too :p

I only really use moisturizer in winter, the time when the least amount of skin possible is on show. I’m not particularly strange, though, it’s more to do with the fact that the sun tan lotion and aftersun I apply look after my skin – both figuratively and literally – in the summer months. Right now thought it’s November, and since I don’t live down under, than means it’s winter.

For years I used the white Johnsons baby lotion as an every day moisturizer. Then one day, shortly before a birthday (I think it was my 15th) I became obsessed with the idea of trying the pink variety. It was something to do with the gorgeous actress they had advertising it, waffling on at me from the TV about how it was not only good for her baby’s skin, but also for hers. I planned to buy some the next time I was shopping, but I must have mentioned it quite a bit at home because when I came downstairs to open presents on my birthday, there waiting for me was a bottle. That was about 5 years ago, and I’ve used it on and off since. I used to like applying it to my face as a cleanser, but then I figured out I could save the hassle of buying the cotton wool and the lotion, and of plopping just the right amount onto the circle, by buying Johnsons wipes which use the same liquid. Since then I’ve used nothing but these wipes on my face, but I still buy the lotion for the rest of me.

Why it’s just so bon:

· It smells, well, like babies. Or at least like clean babies. I don’t wear perfume and so, in a way, this has become my scent. It’s pure and clean and soft smelling, and I love it.

· It’s quickly absorbed. There’s nothing worse than having to sit for ages waiting for a lotion to sink in to either your skin or your baby’s, and with Johnsons this isn’t a problem. One clean sweep and it’s gone.

· It’s non-greasy so although it leaves you nice and soft, you don’t look shiny and you don’t feel like you’ve just been for a swim in a chip pan.

· It’s extra mild because it’s designed for babies. This is a great plus for me as it doesn’t sting if you rub it over open wounds. At the moment my arms are covered in mossie bites, but that doesn’t mean I can’t keep them moisturized at the same time

· The bottle has a flip top lid (all the better for keeping it in one place, namely on the top of the bottle – not rolling under a cupboard somewhere). Keep it snapped tightly into place and the lotion lasts almost infinitely. I’ve always used it up before it starts to go funny, even though I’ve had the odd bottle for over a year, forgetting to use it for months on end. Although the bottle carries a warning that as with most things, you should keep this product out of reach of children, the flip lid makes it harder for little hands to open, which is extra good

· The lotion’s pink, but it doesn’t stain. Pretty self-explanatory. Slap it on your baby’s bum, pin on a bright white nappy (because you’re all the type to use good, cloth nappies, aren’t you?) and you’re good to go.

· It’s extremely versatile – you can use it on babies and grown ups, on wet or dry skin and for a number of uses, from removing make up to cleaning bottoms.

· It’s hypoallergenic and allergy and dermatologist tested, so the likelihood of you reacting badly to it is low.

· Compared to “proper” adult moisturizers, this one’s a bargain. Why pay for L’Oreal or even Dove when you can get Johnsons for a fraction of the cost?

· The bottles – appropriately baby pink in colour, and made of plastic – are nice and plain, and look quite good in your bathroom. They say “I only buy the best” rather than “I buy Superdrug’s cheap own brand and put up with it” (no offence if you do the Superdrug thing. But while we’re on the subject, have you ever thought about trying Johnsons….?) The bottle I got over here came with a handy pump lid but I haven’t seen these back home. They’re also blue. So maybe Johnsons think all British babies are girls, and the Germany ones boys? Who knows.

· It’s everything rolled into one. There are lots of other brands out there on the market but each seems to fall down in some area – maybe they’re sticky, or they smell too disinfectanty or they’re greasy and take forever to sink in. They’re cheaper, of course, but you only save about 50p per 100ml. Once again it’s a case of quality being reflected in the price, and Johnsons win hands down.

Buying it:

Boots sell 500ml bottles on their website for £2.99, Tesco have it for £2.69, a mere 14p more than Boots own. Tesco Value stuff is available for 58p, but I still think it would be a waste of those 58 pence. Someone else try it and review it for me, ok? Back to Johnsons, and bigger and smaller bottles are also available, ranging from 300ml (£1.79) to something big that no website seems to stock (750ml? For something around the £3.99 mark? Perhaps).

In the newsagents I used to work in, we had a few bottles tucked away on a high shelf (never to be sold because I was too short to reach them….), and you can also get it cheap in supermarkets and petrol stations. If they stock just one brand, it’ll be Johnsons.

What’s it they say? 8 out of 10 Midwives use Johnsons on their own kids? If that’s not a recommendation, I don’t know what is.

Oh so Soft
Review of Johnsons Baby Lotion by loz989

Advantages: smells nice, cheap, works
Disadvantages: takes a while to rub in

Ok, a bit of a strange product for 16-year-old girl to be writing about I hear you saying! But, no seriously, I haven't had a baby, kidnapped one or bought one from the Internet, I use it for myself! I remember the first time I used it, (except when I was a baby of course) I must have been 11 or 12, the house was full of baby products since my little sister was still a baby, I was bathing her one night, and being an inquisitive girl I wanted to try ...
...managed to get more on the floor than on me, but you get the point! Ever since then i’ve always had a bottle and I use it on and off. The bottle has not changed much over the many years it has been around, it is one of the most famous brands of baby care and is said to be “the brand UK health professionals prefer”. I certainly am no health professional, but I know a good moisturised when I feel one! Because this product it is made especially for ... Read review

Not just for babies...
Review of Johnsons Baby Lotion by emmorticia

Advantages: mild, smells good
Disadvantages: none

For years, the Johnson's name has been known as a reputable company in the field of baby products. In my house, just about all of the baby products my parents bought when me and the other four were little were Johnson's, ranging from "No more tears" shampoo, to, naturally, Johnson's baby lotion. However, although stating BABY in big letters on the front of the bottle, it's just as good for adults... The bottle, I'm sure, is well-known by almost ...
...brand in big blue letters. The bottle I have in front of me contains 200ml of the lotion, and retails at around £1.99, but it's also available in a 500ml bottle for only £2.99 - a bargain considering how many uses you can get out of a bottle. The formula of this baby lotion seems to have changed considerably over the years - they're now claiming it's "even milder". The mildness of the lotion is added to by the presence of camomile, renowned for ... Read review

I'm WAS Addict - Are You?
Review of Johnsons Baby Lotion by anonymili

Advantages: Cheap & effective moisturiser & makeup remover
Disadvantages: Sadly the change in formula has meant it's not as good as it once was

...say I'm a fan of Johnsons Baby Lotion - they changed the formula a couple of years ago and the scent and consistency that had me hooked all these years has drastically changed. In India they still use the old formula so when I go there every other year I purchase a few bottles (5 or 6) to bring back here to use but I must say I'm very disappointed that I have to this. The consistency on the version available in the UK has changed so much so that ... Read review

Johnson's Baby Lotion
Review of Johnsons Baby Lotion by jeszikca

Advantages: Moisturises, softens skin, smells lovely, very cheap, it's a trusted product
Disadvantages: None

Johnson's Baby Lotion has got to be one of the most versatile products around, and it has been around for absolutely ages! I'm a beauty-whore, as my sister calls it, and this is the one product I'm loyal to, so it must be good! It comes in it's distinctive pink rounded bottle, with a secure flip-lid. It can be bought in various sizes, but mine cost about £1.99, I think, for 300ml. This promises to be 'the most effective way to remove oily substances ...
...It is mild enough for newborn babies, is enriched with protective ingredients and 'works in harmony with the skin'. The lotion itself is quite thin and pink, the same colour as the bottle, and has the typical Johnson's smell. If you've never used these products before, the smell is very light but sweet, but not in a sickly way. It's really homely to me, and reminds me of when I was little! I use this primarily as a body lotion, and it works amazingly ... Read review

Lubed up to the max
Review of Johnsons Baby Lotion by kappaslappa

Advantages: Soft silky skin
Disadvantages: None

I have been a huge fan of Johnson's baby products since I was a teenager. Why? Well my mum has used all the products on us since we were all wee babies, so naturally im a total convert. Not only do I use Johnson's baby oil (see the review I did on that) and their bubble bath and I also use their baby talc and sometimes their shampoo! I have been using Johnson's baby lotion for years now, im not one of those people who tries every single cream and ...
...is brilliant. If I find something, I like and that something works, I tend to stick with it. (",) Who are Johnson's? (",) I don’t think there will be a supermarket, pharmacy or high street store like Boots and Superdrug who don’t sell products by Johnson's. They are a well-known company who supply baby products such as baby lotion, baby bath (which is bubble bath), baby lotion, moisturising cream and baby shampoo. This brand also seems ... Read review

Review of Johnsons Baby Lotion Bedtime by  BecksterMas

Advantages: Smells gorgeous

...A TRUE STORY Once upon a time there was a very tired mummy with a very tired baby. Her baby boy wouldn't sleep. And because he couldnt sleep he was getting overtired. And because he was getting overtired he was crying. And because he was crying he couldnt sleep. The mummy tried reading bedtime stories, singing songs and putting new toys with her baby. But nothing worked. The mummy felt she'd been flattened by a steam roller and the baby wasnt too happy. The mumy went to the shops to get some fresh air. Whilst she was in the chemist getting some pain killers to help her headache that had been caused by no slep, she notice a bottle of Johnson's Bedtime Lotion on the shelf. Even the bottle was a calming colour and when she open the lid, an aroma filled with lavender and camomile stroked her senses. She decided to buy a bottle... Read review

...I love a new product, and having suffered from some very sleepless nights lately i was desperate to try something to help with my insomnia, now i'm actually taking 3 different types of medicaion at the moment, don't worry i'm not ill, but each day i can find myslef taking up to 8 pills a day, which help control my stress as well as my allergies, i also take triceratops and so wasn't really looking to have to try and remeber to take another pill, and having my bag seem like my own personal drug store i decided to go with something less invasive! Having sifted through Ciao for the answer i came across a review on this product! Johnsons baby bedtime lotion! The difference about this new product is noticably the addition of the word "bedtime", i was assured that a quick wiff of this every night and i'd soon be off in the land of nod. so... Read review

Falling asleep just thinking about it
Review of Johnsons Baby Lotion Bedtime by  wattzurflava

Advantages: Price ~ Ease of application ~ Results
Disadvantages: None

...Disclaimer: Before I begin, I want to say that this opinion is on one type of Johnson?s baby lotion ? the new ?bedtime lotion?. Please don?t read or rate it if you are not interested in the lotion or only this lotion!! Thanks!! To Begin I usually find it very difficult to get to sleep. For some reason, I tend to start stressing over everything as soon as my head hits the pillow! Consequently, I?m willing to try anything to get myself to sleep. I came across this new product accidentally in Boots recently and thought I would test it out. Spec This product is similar to the original Johnson?s baby bedtime lotion, but this one has the added aromas of Lavender and Camomile. I bought the 300ml size, which set me back ?3.49. I believe that it is also available in a larger size. It comes in a similar bottle as the original... Read review
