Well I find myself back in the baby products.....what a suprise.....but I think I am abit of an expert!! Well so I thought. I Never used lotions on my first four kids thinking they were a waste of time and money-I used bubble baths and oils and for me that was enough. But with todays research and technology, the market has become flooded with products which us as consumers must choose to use or not.....the tendancy being to believe we really need them....oh the wonders of advertising!!! But we also have to use our knowledge of some of the research being done to decide what is best for our kids. Did you know you shouldnt bath your babies more than twice a week? of course you did!!! Me too but it didnt stop me doing it more, believing my childrens skin wouldnt dry out if I add a drop of oil to it. When my 5th gorgeous baby was born 4 months ago I thought I would use him as a guinea pig and try bathing him in just water........god it was hard especially when he started dryng up(which is normal). My three year old asked me one day what was wrong with the baby as his skin had become so dry and scaley-normal after 9 months in water but to our eyes doesnt it look awful???(especially around the wrists and ankles!!) so I thought ok just a little help-but still nothing in the bath as this really affects a child skins to produce its own natural oils. So even though I live in germany, where there are many other brands-I phoned me ma up and asked her to send me some johnsons. What began then was so special not only physically but mentally for both me and my baby. Each day regardless if he had a bath or not, I would sit for 10 mins and give him a head to foot massage using johnsons. Depending on how much lotion I used determined how long it lasted actually-as well as my sons comfort. It absorbs so easily that i suggest using abit more than you normally would, for a worthwhile massage. His SCALES! didnt disappear over night, which is wonderful as this was something his natural oils would determine the outcome off-but the rawlook(cos remember this wasnt painful at all) subsided dramatically. He is now 4 months and I continue this ritual daily. being a bit chubbier than he used to be he has now aquired a double chin-lol....and I am always applying lotion there too as when a baby is sick this can get trapped underneath this area....yes even if you clean them well. so check regularly under this chin area....you never know whats lurking there....and if like my son it look abit dry and red, just apply some lotion.
I have been converted as has my 14 year old daughter who no longer puts anything in her bath, but always uses Johnsons now....she says the fragrance is subtle yet alluring....teenagers hey.
Not allowing our babies to produce their own natural oils can lead to other skin problems later.....yes bubbles are fun and we really believe what the ads say that they do not dry out the skin......but over time they do. This lotion just makes the adjustment more pleasing to the eye.
Having trouble with cradle cap???? Daily massaging of johnson lotion on your babies head as well as daily brushing with a very soft brisstle brush soon shifts it-now that is a first for me.....my others looked awful with it for ages.
We all know Johnsons products-I have only used this so cant comment on the rest. But there is never any searching around for them-they are in all supermarkets and drugstores and if you are lucky just phone your mum like I did and get her to send you some
I think it is important that I talked so much about the affects a bubble bath can have on the skin because it links into the reasons why lotion is so helpful and why we should buy it.

I love this stuff, even though I'm using it on me, not babies. You can buy it over here in Germany too - it's just branded as Hr Penaten.
