For years, the Johnson's name has been known as a reputable company in the field of baby products. In my house, just about all of the baby products my parents bought when me and the other four were little were Johnson's, ranging from "No more tears" shampoo, to, naturally, Johnson's baby lotion. However, although stating BABY in big letters on the front of the bottle, it's just as good for adults...
The bottle, I'm sure, is well-known by almost everyone - a pastel pink bottle with the name and brand in big blue letters. The bottle I have in front of me contains 200ml of the lotion, and retails at around £1.99, but it's also available in a 500ml bottle for only £2.99 - a bargain considering how many uses you can get out of a bottle.
The formula of this baby lotion seems to have changed considerably over the years - they're now claiming it's "even milder". The mildness of the lotion is added to by the presence of camomile, renowned for its soothing properties. The fragrance has also become progressively lighter over the years. Open the bottle, and...well, it smells just like most babies do! The fragrance is pleasant and unobtrusive, and not overpoweringly strong - rather like a talcum powder, in fact.
The lotion itself is light pink in colour, and of a fairly thin consistency. Being fairly thin, you do not need to use much of it at a time, as it will spread over a large area, and so even a 200ml bottle can last for ages.
The lotion is hypoallergenic and free of lanolin, so incredibly mild. This means that it can be used on babies of all ages, and won't irritate sensitive skin. Babies and young children are very prone to dry skin - if this is the case, just take a small amount of lotion, and rub in - it rubs in very easily, and is non-greasy. Johnson's Baby Lotion can also be used to clean babies' skin - just put a little on a piece of cotton wool, and its cleaning power is, without a doubt, as effective (if not more so) as using water.
This baby lotion helps to prevent nappy rash - if it is rubbed in after changing a baby's nappy, it helps their skin to stay moisturised and free from rashes.
ADULTS:
The product can be effectively used as both a make-up remover AND a moisturiser. To remove make-up, simply put onto cotton wool and wipe the eyes and face. I've found this to be a very effective make-up remover - it is, as mentioned before, very mild, and removes all traces of make-up without having to scrub at it for hours!
I also use this product as a moisturiser after I have bathed or showered - it rubs in very easily, and, as I have sensitive skin, it does not irritate as some other products can. Talking of sensitive skin...I also find that the baby lotion helps to soothe it, particularly when sunburnt or suffering from a rash caused by another product claiming to be for sensitive skin...but that's another story...
So there you have it. A very versatile little product, so it's well worth having a couple of bottles of this handy, even, like me, if you don't have children! It's amazing value for the price you pay, and you can get points on your Nectar Card/Tesco's Card/Boots Advantage Card - can't complain! This is a classic baby product, and well-known and well-loved by a huge number of families, and definitely a product to be trusted.
