I bought my first bottle of baby lotion about 3 weeks after the birth of my son, whenever he came out of the bath his skin always dried out so much that I felt as though it was my fault and I needed to find something to help moisten his delicate newborn skin. My first instinct was to read online and see what other people thought of the product and how they rated it, I did this with several other products including supermarket and pharmacy own brands but I didn't find anything that satisfied my motherly worries as much as Johnson's.
On my next shopping trip to town I called into my workplace (a pharmacy no doubt) and picked up the bottle of baby lotion from the shelf in the baby section. The bottle was a lovely pale pink and of an oval shape with a flat base and pronounced flip top lid for dispensing. The front of the bottle says "Johnson's baby lotion" in blue and dark pink and then below that "clinically proven mildness" again in blue and dark pink and then at the very bottom of the bottle "Johnson + Johnson" in blue once again. If you turn the bottle around then the back is packed with information to help sell the product to you - here's the low down:
>>8 out of 10 midwives use JOHNSON'S Baby on their own Children

JOHNSON'S don't make baby products for anyone else<<
As you can see, Johnson's think a lot of their selves as a manufacturer of baby products and they are very highly rated amongst the world of mothers and babies and I'm really not at all surprised, they market their products well and you just have to try them yourself to see how well they work.
When you flip back the pink cap at the top of the bottle you are hit with that classic Johnson's baby lotion smell, it's mild and fresh and smells like a clean baby does; the smell is just wonderful to me and definitely not offensive. If you squeeze a little bit of the lotion out onto your hand then you will notice that it is the same pale pink as the bottle and the smell is a lot stronger but still not offensive. When you rub the lotion into skin (be it yours or baby's) it takes on a slight shiny but transparent appearance, the pink no longer shows and within seconds it has been absorbed into baby's skin meaning that it doesn't leave skin feeling wet or sticky just noticeably moistened and soft. I really do recommend this product, it's lovely and my son loves being massaged with it. For those interested there is an ingredients list below, but for everyone else this is where I shall wrap up my review. TTFN
