I didn't use it before my baby was 3 months old as I was worried about how delicate her skin was but once she got to 3 months old I decided to try giving my baby a massage after her bath ... ...relax and gave her a good night's sleep.
The directions are to massage into your baby's skin before bed and that is all. There are no complicated regimes to follow or no specific massage motions so I put aside some time for just me and my baby to spend together relaxing and unwinding and it was lovely.

I used a small amount, about the size of two peas and rubbed it into her skin all over, even on the face but of course was very careful around her eyes. The lotion was very smooth and not at all oily. It gave enough moisture to be able to massge her gently without being too hard on her skin. It rubbed it well and left her skin nice and soft.
I don't know if it was the lotion or just the motion of my hands massaging her but my baby was very content and relaxed afterwards. I put her to bed and she slept very well and only woke once in the night for a feed!
Since then I have used this regularly. It's become part of our bath time routine and I really love it. I love having that bit of time to dedicate to my daughter where it is just the two of us and we're not rushing around the shops or trying to cook tea but we're relaxing and bonding together. It always relaxes her and leaves me feeling happy and content too.
It smells a little like lavendar but it is a very mild scent so it's not over powering which is perfect for babies.
The ingredients list is pretty long which makes me a little suspicious, I always like simple products but this one has many ingredients, too many to list here= over 30! The main one being water.
it is clinically tested which is obviously essential especially if you are putting it on babies skin as they are extremely sensitive.
The bottle has a simple flip lid so it's easy to open and undo with damp/greasy hands unlike a screw cap. It does, however, get a little annoying when you get to the bottom of the bottle and you can't get the lotion out very well!
I really recommend this as it's just so nice to have that bit of time and the smell and texture of this lotion is just lovely. I like the fact it feels gentle, smells gentle and appears to be gentle on her skin too.
In boots it costs £2.49 for 300ml which I think is well worth it as it does last a while too. You can also use it on yourself too- I have been known to do this! It's not just for babies!
Advantages: lovely smell, easily absorbed, not greasy, good value for money Disadvantages: none
I bought the Johnsonsbedtime range after my son began waking through the night. The other products didn't last very long but I still have over 1/2 a bottle of the BedtimeLotion left. It smells fantastic and the smell lasts for quite a long time, if you rub it into your baby's skin at bedtime they will still smell of it in the morning. I'm not sure if it helped my son to sleep for longer, but the quality of his sleep did seem to improve, and he stirred less through the night. The lotion is easily absorbed into baby's skin and isnt greasy or sticky as I have found some lotions can be. It is rather pricey (I think I paid around £3.70 for what seemed like a pretty small bottle) but the lotion does go a long way, so although it is quite expensive, the value for money more than compensates! ...
A TRUE STORY
Once upon a time there was a very tired mummy with a very tired baby. Her baby boy wouldn't sleep. And because he couldnt sleep he was getting overtired. And because he was getting overtired he was crying. And because he was crying he couldnt sleep.
The mummy tried reading bedtime stories, singing songs and putting new toys with her baby. But nothing worked. The mummy felt she'd been flattened by a steam roller and the baby wasnt too happy.
The mumy went to the shops to get some fresh air. Whilst she was in the chemist getting some pain killers to help her headache that had been caused by no slep, she notice a bottle of Johnson's BedtimeLotion on the shelf. Even the bottle was a calming colour and when she open the lid, an aroma filled with lavender and camomile stroked her senses. She decided to buy a bottle ...
Advantages: helps aid a natural sleep Disadvantages: you may become dependant on it, for all of time
I love a new product, and having suffered from some very sleepless nights lately i was desperate to try something to help with my insomnia, now i'm actually taking 3 different types of medicaion at the moment, don't worry i'm not ill, but each day i can find myslef taking up to 8 pills a day, which help control my stress as well as my allergies, i also take triceratops and so wasn't really looking to have to try and remeber to take another pill, and having my bag seem like my own personal drug store i decided to go with something less invasive!
Having sifted through Ciao for the answer i came across a review on this product! Johnsons baby bedtimelotion!
The difference about this new product is noticably the addition of the word "bedtime", i was assured that a quick wiff of this every night and i'd soon be off in the land of nod. so ...
