Advantages: A great way to clean awkward or tiny things. Disadvantages: None at all.

I have seen cheaper alternatives on the market yet I always head for the Johnson's cotton buds, the last time I was in Boots the chemists I bought a drum of 200 cotton buds for £1.48 and that drum will last me ages.

It seems that Johnson's have brought out a larger cotton bud which is called the safety swab, they look the same as the original cotton bud but the heads are larger and shaped differently which makes them safer for cleaning ears. Paediatricians recommend them for both adults and children.

Johnson's products must be a firm favourite with many young Mums today but who would have thought that such a simple invention could make life so much easier. Johnson's cotton buds do have 100% cotton buds and as long as you keep the lid on the tub it ensures that the cotton buds stay sterile. When we have had family get togethers I have seen my nieces use the buds for all manner of jobs, cleaning tiny ears and nostrils, removing tiny sleepers from those little eyes and getting in between those delicate little toes and fingers to make sure that fluff and specks of dirt are cleaned away.
Recently when my niece visited she handed me what looked like an obese cotton bud and asked me to have a go at cleaning her toddlers ears. It seems that Johnson's have brought out a larger cotton bud which is called the safety swab, they look the same as the original cotton bud but the heads are larger and shaped differently which makes them safer for cleaning ears. Paediatricians recommend them for both adults and children. The bulb shaped head of the safety swab is far less likely to slip into the ear canal and do any damage, I use cotton buds to clean my ears and I am always aware that inside of the ear must be treated with the greatest of care.
But Johnson's cotton buds play an important role in my everyday life too, they come in so useful for removing odd stray specks of make up, the tip of the cotton bud will remove the smallest smudge yet leave the remainder of your make up intact. They are brilliant for removing wet nail varnish that has built up around your cuticle, if you catch the varnish while it is wet it just lifts away unnoticed. If you use concealer ( I have to ) then the tip of a cotton bud will hold just enough concealer and you will be able to apply it so neatly and evenly. Of course both of us use Johnson's cotton buds for cleaning our ears too. If either of us needs to apply any Savlon or antiseptic cream to an awkward area then a cotton bud does the job well.
Earlier on in the review I was saying how important it is to keep the cotton buds sterile by making sure that the lid is always put straight back on top of the drum. But I also think it is really important to bear in mind that the cotton bud should be used just the once at either end and then disposed of. If you reuse it you then run the risk of spreading any possible infection.
I expect there are many people who use cotton buds for anything other than what they have been designed for. I must just say that I find they are a wonderful little `tool` to keep in the greenhouse, when you open a packet of tiny seeds and you want to space them into a tray of compost then take a cotton bud, just slightly dampen the tip of the bud and that damp bud will pick your tiny seeds up easily allowing you to place them where you want them to go.
A marvellous product from the much respected company of Johnson and Johnson.
Johnson's Cotton Buds
One day I was really bored so I decided to go for a walk down my local shop the spar, has I normally do, I rushed towards the £1 counter to see if I could find any bargains to go home with, I scanned the shelves when I came across a tub of cotton buds, well protected with a lovely clear lid to keep them clean and out of germs. The tub was also a lovely fresh white with Johnson’s slogan written in a lovely sky blue, I picked ... ...cheap and looked very good and they were well worth value a £1 for 2oo cotton buds
Whilst using them I did not feel any pain or irritation at all, they were really soft and gentle, they cleaned inside of my ears really well, and there were not really any bad points about them. Even after use my ears were still free of pain and there was still no irritation caused.
You can get Johnson’s cotton buds from most high street shops and many local shops ...
