Johnson’s baby shampoo is a shampoo that is suitable not only for little ones but for all the family. It can also be used to clean babies scalps – especially if they are suffering with cradle cap.
The bottle is clear with a yellow lid and there is a tear shaped label on the front with the wording Johnson’s baby shampoo, best ever softness and no more tears. The label is double sided so if you look through the other side of the bottle you will see the instructions for how to use. The actual shampoo is a lemon colour and is quite transparent. ****How to use it****
The lid has a flip top to open. First wet your hair, then you pour the shampoo into the palm of your hand and rub into your hair and scalp. I have quite long hair and I find that an amount about the same size as a £2 coin is sufficient. Rinse the shampoo out with water.
For my son I wash his hair in the bath, I just wet his hair with his toy watering can making it part of a game, or by squeezing out a sponge of water over his head. I find that I need very little shampoo on his hair – about the size of a 5p. When rinsing the shampoo out the foam always goes into his eyes and he has never been bothering by this.
****Results****
Me – I was a bit concerned about using this shampoo as I do suffer with quite greasy hair and I was worried that I would have to wash my hair more often, but I didn’t. It left my hair feeling really soft and with a lovely smell.
My husband – He can’t use my usual shampoos as he finds them too strong for his hair, he says that this one was just right.
Louis – I started using this when Louis was about 12 months old, he didn’t have that much hair and until this time I had just been washing it in the bath water. I wish that I had tried this sooner as within two weeks his cradle cap had gone completely. Now his hair is longer and curly and this shampoo leaves it soft with little curls not frizz and it smells great.
****Is it suitable for Sensitive Skin?****
As I mentioned previously the foam from this product gets into my sons eyes every time we wash his hair (this isn’t intentional!) and his eyes have never been irritated. It works well to get rid of cradle cap (this is crusty patches on a baby’s scalp). The Johnson’s website says that if your baby is suffering from cradle cap to wash their hair in this shampoo then comb out gently.
****Cost and Where to Buy It****
Johnson’s baby shampoo is available to buy in most supermarkets and chemists. The prices that I am using are coming from the Tesco website www.tesco.com and the prices are as of 30.01.05. I am using the price of the Tesco own brand product as a comparison.
As you can see the Tesco own brand is cheaper, and it works out better value for money if you buy the bigger size Johnson’s Baby Shampoo to the smaller one. I bought my bottle when it was on offer for buy one get one free and it works out a lot cheaper this way. I haven’t tried the Tesco version but if anyone else has please let me know how you got on with it.
Although I am not covering them, you can also buy Johnsons Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender, Baby Shampoo with Detangling Formula, Baby Shampoo Moisturising Formula with Honey and Vitamin E, Softwash Baby Shampoo and Baby Shampoo with Natural Chamomile – what a choice!
****Best Bits****
The baby soft smell – on an adult or a baby!
The fact that you can use this shampoo for all ages.
This shampoo lasts for ages, I have been using it every other night on my son’s hair for the past 6 months and I’m not even half way through the bottle.
Mild enough to use every day.
Rinses out easily so does not leave hair with residues.
PH Balanced.
No more tears formular.
****Negative Points****
None, apart from it makes the bubbles disappear in the bath – but this is the same with any shampoo.
Advantages: Great price, very gentle Disadvantages: Smells not great
My hair. As everyone knows, it is severely traumatised through various bleach applications and heated appliances, and needs some pampering. I sincerely believe that conditioner is the most important thing to hair, and shampoo is there to cleanse, and do not much else. Hence, I don’t require too much from a shampoo – it has to clean it well, be fairly cheap (I spend a fortune on conditioner instead), and not fade my highlights. So where ... ...fave website, Ciao!
I vaguely looked through the top 5 shampoos on Ciao, and came up with this, Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. The reviews I read were all great, and stressed the fact that this is a great shampoo for big kids too! Also, with it being so mild, I figured that it wouldn’t aggravate my eczema when I rinsed it out of my hair.
Off I trotted to Boots, found the baby section (they’ve moved it since I worked there!), and was ...

Ingredients : Water, PEG-80 Sorbitan Laurate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Glycerin, Disodium Lauroamphodaicetate, PEG-150 Distearate, Sodium Laureth-13 Carboxylate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Fragrance, Polyquaternium-10, Citric Acid, Honey, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Quaternium-15, D&C Brown ... ...means that it is a gentle product, so it is really unlikely to cause irritation of the skin, so it is even good for people prone to allergies or with skin irriations. Not to mention a wonderful thing if you only have a shower it doesn't sting if you get it in your eyes. (when I wash my hair in the shower I always get the damned stuff in my eyes)
Lots of shampoos coat the hair with like a plastic to make hair look glossy and clean, some actually ...

Advantages: Doesnt make your eyes hurt Disadvantages: Its a baby shampoo
...that's my baby, that's my Johnson's baby', bring flooding back vivid memories of baby's and toddlers covered in shampoo foam from the advert?
Now I assumed that the shampoo was just for toddlers, until my housemate purchased a bottle a few months ago, and I borrow a bit on long-term loan when my regular shampoo ran out. So fret not, big people can use it as well!
Johnson's Baby Shampoo is made by Johnson & Johnson and is based in Maidenhead, as ... ...other shampoo's.
In general Johnson's Baby Shampoo, left my hair clean and shiny, and softened it up a bit as well, probably because of the moisturising ingredients that they add to the formula. Another claim is that the natural camomile extract is known to keep the light colour of your hair, as I do not fully understand this statement I cannot comment properly, but if it means that the shampoo keeps your hair colour light, I can confirm this statement.

Close your eyes and let your imagination wander:
The jungle is quiet and all is still. The morning beckons and the dusk begins to lighten. The dawn chorus awaits the orange glow of the Equator sun rising above the distant mountains. Its rays soon caress the treetops to awaken the dawn chorus. The King rises slowly from his slumber, he stretches and emits a grunt. He moves gently to the watering hole and promptly jumps into the shower.

A rich lather forms and a familiar sweet smell surrounds him. The foam runs down his face and into his eyes. He blinks, unperturbed and carries on with the task in hand. He rinses the suds from his head and proceeds to wash the other “bits” of his body.

Advantages: soft, shiney gorgeous hair...doesn't sting eyes Disadvantages: no disadvantages
This is one of the best babyshampoos around.
a 300ml bottle costs around £2.99 from most places but it can cost differently from various places.
The shampoo i think is fantastic as it is specially for babies and doesn't sting there eyes if it gets into them. Infact my 2 year old little girl hated having her hair washed and i decided to go back to johnsons and now she isn't bothered if it gets into her eyes as it doesnt hurt.
You can get smaller and bigger bottles of this and you can get different kinds.
I am recently using the johnsonsbabyshampoo with camomile which has a lovely fresh clean smell. My daughter likes to have a tiny amount on a sponge and sit and smell it.
When using this you only need to use a tiny amount as it does spread well.
I and a lot of people have noticed a difference in their childs hair. My ...
Advantages: Gentle, cleans like a dream, great scent, great price. Disadvantages: Absolutely NONE
I have tried EVERY shampoo under the sun for my ultra fine, thinning hair. (some so expensive i wouldn't dare say). Then three days ago i decided to try Johnson's babyshampoo as thought if it's good enough for baby's eyes then it can't do my scalp and harm! and OH MY GOD! it's absolutely amazing! straight away i noticed the difference. my hair seems cleaner, healthier, shinier, and more balanced (usually i have greasy scalp and dry ends). Not any more! and that's only after 3 days! i am also using the Johnson's baby conditioner (in a pink bottle) along with the shampoo (original). I feel really silly for spending so much money on rubbish products all my life that "claim" to work miracles.. and never do! JohnsonBaby products are the best you can get. and with minimum ingredient that doesn't seep into your semi-permeable skin and into ...
Advantages: Hair feels clean and fresh. Disadvantages: n/a
I discovered JohnsonsBabyShampoo by accident. I spent a weekend at my sister's and I had to use my niece's Shampoo. I have to admit that my hair felt smooth and clean when I dried it. I was quite sceptical about how a baby/child's shampoo would work with me and now it is the only shampoo I use. It cleans my hair (and I do not have to use loads), takes care of my hair as it contains camomille (soothing and calmind properties). Its scent reminds me of my nieces so it is great. I like it because it is not too strong.I always manage to buy them when they are on special offers, specially buy one get one free at Tesco. However, I would not mind paying full price for them. I always feel it is more natural that other brands. Its texture and colour looks more natural than other. Just buy it. You will not look back ...
