You haven't smelt anything like this, it really is beautiful if I must say, and amongst the other aftershaves I like this one definately wins.
The bottle is transparant with a dark murky purple twist lid that tightens easily and opens just as easily. The colour of the aftershave in the bottle is what I would describe best as the same rosie shade as turkish delight, it makes a change to your usual yellow-ish and blue aftershaves. Do not let the colour make you think this is a girly aftershave however, as you will find that 'homme' is french for man ;)
The box is quite tall, and has a colour scheme matching the afterhave itself, but in a metallic effect which fades into a darker shade towards the top of the box. The contents of the box is simply the aftershave, which you can get to very easily in the box, avoiding silly leaflets and advertisements.
About time I described the scent really, after its the main purpose of the product. The top notes of the product are bergamont and cinnamon. I did hear somewhere that it contained tabacco extract, but I am yet to read this anywhere else. It also has jasmine amongst its middle notes and sandalwood and amber in the basenotes.
My own opinion on the fragrance is that it is a soft sweet and woody scent, is enough to be smelt all day and isn't over powering or harsh on the nose. I also do notice a hint of lavendar in the mixture but havent read it anywhere on the net.
It doesn't aggitate my skin, which can be sensitive to product, and the smell lingers for the progression of the day. When I tried the sample on my hands, it was still there after washing them throughout the day, but this doesn't mean that the scent is sickly over powering such as an uneducated pubescent boys attempt at hiding his b.o with cheap deodrant en masse.
I do get compliments upon wearing joop homme, so if you would like also I would suggest this afterhave to you :)

Advantages: Just a great aftershave Disadvantages: none
Wednesday Dec 3rd 2008 yours truly has reached the ripe old age of 54. So it's just another birthday and I'll get the usual After Eights and a pack of cigars. To some that may not sound a lot, but we have since the birth of our son made a pact not to spend a fortune on presents especially birthdays, just a little something to say Happy Birthday and a reminder that you haven't been forgotten.
So I rose this morning I was expecting the norm only to ... ...obviously collected from the Postie and hidden until today, and a bottle of JOOP. I like a nice fragrance and I must have mentioned in the passing on our shopping that I liked JOOP.
The 75ml bottle of fragrance, which according to the internet retails at anything from £22.99 to £35 is a nice pinky red colour, whilst the bottle is a pretty shape being that it is almost a half circle or tube. The box, which is of a rectangular shape, starts black ...

Advantages: Has a sweet, long lasting smell, lasts for an age, bottle looks cool Disadvantages: Can be expensive, women start fighting to get near you
...I can honestly say that Joop Homme Eau de Toilette is this aftershave.
Joop has been around since 1989 and is rather an expensive aftershave costing £35 for a 75ml spray from www.escentual.co.uk. It is widely available from most online perfume retailers, Boots, Bodycare and House of Fraser.
The packaging for Joop is very basic, a warm purple and crimson colour with the words JOOP in big white letters. On opening the box you are greeted with a rather ... ...opinion.
The notes to Joop make for surprising reading. Not only does it contain extracts of tobacco, spices and fruits, it claims to have a long lasting fruity smell that will leave a warm woody fragrance. So, what smell greeted me once I finally opened the bottle?
After removing the lid I was greeted with a sickly sweet smell. There were no hints of tobacco or spices, but the smell was very fruity, too fruity. The smell from the bottle was very ...

...aftershave and fragrance. Joop is the brain child of German fashionist Wolfgang Joop, so no need to question where he got the name from...Other than that, it's not very exciting - since 1997, Joop's products have been sold through Joop GmbH, which is clearly visible on the side of the packaging, and here is there main male product - "Homme." The packaging is much of what you'd expect - quite non-descript yet alluring by making you want to know what ... ...aftershave can be 'spicy' then Joop Homme is definitely it. You can pick up a 75ml bottle, which will last several months I'm sure, for around £26 on Amazon...not that I imagine many of you do your cosmetic shopping online, more like Boots or Superdrug, but I imagine you can find it for a similar price there. ...kind of pink box with Joop Homme Aftershave on the front.
The spray tends to be the one that I normally go for but I have tried the aftershave one and it is just as good, it has a very woody manly smell which is perfect for me, not too strong and very long lasting. It does not sting when it goes on it just seems to cool the skin very nicely.
I am positive that it costs around £20 for a bottle (not sure as I always get it for birthdays and christmas ... ...very good value for money and one splash will last the whole day.
I have used many an aftershave that has gave me a sore head due to the strength of the smell but I never have even a niggle with this, it is just perfect.
It can be bought from nearly any reputable chemist anywhere. Boots is the main one that I am sure I have seen it in but it is very widely available.
Thank you if you are reading this and I hope it didnt bore you ...

Advantages: Strong refreshing scent Disadvantages: A bit girlish depending on your opinion
...to try something different and Joop is very different to other aftershaves. Unlike most aftershave which have a spicy aroma Joop is more like a perfume. I would say it has a blossom scent like a strong flower like fuschia but there is a fruity aroma also. It is very pleasant and refreshing to spray on in the morning. Image wise I would say it is more something you would use when going out at night to meet a girlfriend.
The first scent (the strong ... ...quite safe to spray a bit on after a shower in the morning, go and have breakfast and then get on a bus, the scent will not overpower anyone.
The first scent gives way to a milder soapy type smell like what a perfumed soap would leave behind. I like an aftershave that lasts all day and although this is pleasant to use I would say it does not go the full length. At £34 a bottle it seems expensive but this sort of thing will last you a year or longer ...

Advantages: smells fantastic, brilliant staying power, reasonably priced Disadvantages: none that i can think of
you purchase it from. I always think that gift sets are better value for money because you are getting the matching bath and body products to compliment and layer the scent of the perfume. I have referred to Joop! Homme as a perfume which most probably will have some people confused and thinking "its not a perfume its an aftershave" The truth is that Joop! Homme isn't actually an after shave, it is a perfume because it is an Eau De Toilette fragrance, if it were an aftershave it would be called Joop! HommeAftershave. An Aftershave is totally different from an Eau De Toilette/Cologne/Parfum because aftershaves have a very small amount of alcohol in them because the are designed to be applied directly onto the face. The lack of alcohol in Aftershaves means that they don't have very good staying power and the fragrance only lasts ...
Advantages: smells nice, layers and compliments the scent of the perfume Disadvantages: none really, possibly too expensive for some
; because you are applying a base for the perfume to stick to. Although I doubt that you need to layer the scent of Joop! Homme because it is a really long lasting fragrance. People who have slightly dry skin will find that the scent doesn't last long on their skin so therefore you might have to layer the scent in order to achieve better staying power. If you are using Joop! Homme Eau De Toilette than you don't really need to layer the scent because the perfume alone has a staying power of approximately 12 hours, I think that you only need to layer the scent of you are using the after shave format because aftershaves only have a short staying power of approximately 1-2 hours maximum.
Joop! Homme can be bought from most larger department stores such as Boots or Debenhams. You can also purchase it from online retailers too although prices may ...
Advantages: I got it cheap, original looks, gives you a feminine side! Disadvantages: Overpriced, some will consider it 'girly'
and reads ?Homme? ?JOOP!? and ?Eau de toilette?, going off the point slightly, why is it that aftershaves are always French when the French people don?t exactly smell too great, perhaps its because they export it all!
As far as looks go, Joop is a strange creature. It is a shade of pink I would associate primarily with weak Ribena and it even seems to have little bubbles in it. I would certainly give Joop 10/10 for originality though, despite its somewhat feminine appearance.
Smell is the most important thing with any aftershave, and without further ado lets get onto that. The smell can be described in many different ways I feel. It is fruity, flowery, fresh and fragrant. It doesn?t smell generic in any sense of the word and if I were to compare it to anything it would be a ladies perfume. It is a quite feminine smell and I wouldn?t bat ...
