Wednesday Dec 3rd 2008 yours truly has reached the ripe old age of 54. So it's just another birthday and I'll get the usual After Eights and a pack of cigars. To some that may not sound a lot, but we have since the birth of our son made a pact not to spend a fortune on presents especially birthdays, just a little something to say Happy Birthday and a reminder that you haven't been forgotten.
So I rose this morning I was expecting the norm only to be surprised by some lovely cards, which my wife had obviously collected from the Postie and hidden until today, and a bottle of JOOP. I like a nice fragrance and I must have mentioned in the passing on our shopping that I liked JOOP.
The 75ml bottle of fragrance, which according to the internet retails at anything from £22.99 to £35 is a nice pinky red colour, whilst the bottle is a pretty shape being that it is almost a half circle or tube. The box, which is of a rectangular shape, starts black at the top and is in a gradient to the colour of the fragrance on the bottom.
I've always found describing a smell quite difficult but this one is definitely fruity, not over powering but quite a subtle smell. It is described by the maker's as having top notes of Bergamot, Cinnamon, and Jasmine. I find it a very masculine fragrance with slight feminine undertones, which I believe adds an air of sophistication to its attraction. It is definitely a fragrance, which turns heads and one, which attracts. Containing hints of Sandalwood and Honeysuckle, it does have a sweetness, which complements the most prominent fruitiness. I think generally it is a most attractive fragrance although I can see why some might not be attracted to it with it being slightly sweet.
I just think it has a fantastic smell and I just love wearing it, I would say that it might well be considered more suitable for a younger man, but it makes me feel good. Once applied the fragrance last forever and even after washing my hands several times there was still a hint of it having been there earlier in the day. I would probably class this as a very nice aftershave to wear whilst going our for a nice romantic meal, or an occasion where you might want to be a bit more romantic. It has a very alluring charm and it is a valued addition to my not very large collection of pleasant whiffs.
