Joop! What About Adam - is it any good?

Advantages: Gorgeous fragrance.
Disadvantages: Discontinued and thus difficult to find!

To avoid any confusion, the item I am reviewing here is Joop!'s What About Adam 75ml Eau De Toilette/Cologne. This fragrance was launched in 1997, and is a citrus green fragrance with woody tones, with accents of labdanum and vanilla. After getting a free sample of this fragrance sometime back, I've been on the hunt for a proper bottle for quite some time - I didnt realise that it had been discontinued though, and this was proving to be why it is so dofficult to get hold of! Eventually I did track some down on a well known auction site, and I have to say, it was well worth the wait. It's quite an unusual fragrance in that is smells quite light and fresh, yet as it settles on the skin, it gradually gets deeper and takes on a more manly musky smell as time goes on. What about Adam, what about it

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Cost, loss of credibility, loss of image

As a regular user of Joop Homme, I thought I would try their new Aftershave and Balm, What about Adam. Was I in for a shock, not what I was expecting at all, from this major player in the fragrance field. What about Adam, well would you "Adam and Eve it", it's scent was more intune with a childs bubble bath than a serious fragrance. It was "fruity" said the girl at the Fragrance counter, too right it was. It was weak, and somewhat immature, definitely not one for the "Lad about Town". It failed to meet with the same panache as the other fragrances in the Joop stable, rather, it would be what's left in the stables! There-fore I was not surprised when I seen that even Debenhams had stopped stocking it, and it was even in the "Bargain Bins", which was actually an injustice to the other products there! About Appaling Awful Adam

Advantages: Stuart Townsend-Thats it, I kid you not
Disadvantages: No plot, unconvincng accents, attempts to be arty

of confrontation or the discovery that Adam isn't really who Lucy thought he was (which was the tiny tit-bit featured on the slipcase). But it never came. I started watching the film thinking that Kate Hudson would be the starring role, but this wasn't the case, the three sisters were more or less featured equally, which was lucky, because I've never heard a worse attempt at an Irish accent in my life, ever. Frances O'Connor is English too, so her accent is better, but not truly convincing After watching the special features, the interviews with cast and crew,I kind of understood what the film was meant to be, which may make its erratic behaviour excusable. What they were TRYING to create was a Woody Allen type arty flick, not a film with a story. This makes more sense, and also excuses them from my previous complaints about the lack of plot. But ...
