He often claims that first duty of a writer is to write well.This book is combination of his own memories and imagination.As the characters in the novel, In general, children grow up quickly, but when they are adults time abandons them.Time abandons Colonel Aureliano after the civil war, and Jose both of them locked in Melquiades' laboratory, refusing to join the world.
