This is another find from Oxfam's 3 for £1 selection. I bought this video by mistake, thinking it was The Prince of Egypt, which is a film I saw in primary school and loved! Nevertheless, I did like the film, despite it being the wrong one. Although it's a bible story, I still found it ok (if you don't know what I'm talking about, watch any other film of a bible story - they're all crap).
The story centres around Joseph, of the house of Jacob. He can tell the future through his dreams and can interpret the dreams of others. His brothers are jealous of him as their father pays special attention to him as he believes Joseph is a gift from God. Joseph's nine brothers decide they've had enough of him so sell him into slavery. I know, heartwarming stuff, isn't it. Anyway, after ...
Advantages: Great film Disadvantages: Special Edition?
If you are a musical fan this is probably the DVD for you, I find this a timeless classic that still keeps me amused to this day, the film is fantastic with actors like Donny Osmond and Joan Collins you know its going to be a win.
The staging is unique and funny, it is almost as if you have gone to the theatre with a comical pharaoh and staging of puppets and overly bright backgrounds.
The story follows a man called Joseph as he is betrayed by his brothers and sold as a slave, there is no dialogue; just singing and you stay interested without.
The only critiscm I can make, however, is that personally I don't feel it is really worth buying the Special Edition as extra features don't interest me. if you're buying it for the film, do it!
For lovers of 60's-80's musicals. ...

Just before Christmas, we went to see Martyn Joseph at Haren Church, near Brussels airport. I don't not what surprised me more, that a Welsh singer-songwriter should turn up at a small venue in cold, dark Flanders or that this was the fifth successive year he had been there. We had seen him once before, back at Spring Harvest in Minehead in 1996, and had a couple of his albums. One of these, the eponymously entitled Martyn Joseph is the subject of this review.
