Advantages: Good Subject Range, well taught. Disadvantages: Lack of practical components for Film & Broadcast students.

The main point of convention I had, that other graduates from the course I know also felt, was the absence of practical learning. Certainly the Journalism side has a good amount of this, but then it's easy to do, but the Film and Broadcasting students are generally left cold, despite claims made in the prospectus.
It's been a few years now since I graduated from this course in cardiff, and whilst I don't regret doing it, it wasn't what I expected, and the help it's given me in the job market has been debateable.

Certainly the Journalism side has a good amount of this, but then it's easy to do, but the Film and Broadcasting students are generally left cold, despite claims made in the prospectus.
The range of subjects taught is good though, and the tutors are, by and large, an interesting and helpful bunch. I would certainly recommend the course for what it does, but I'd recommend to potential students that IT's aims meet with YOUR aims.
Advantages: Good Atmosphere and teaching standards. Within easy reach of the town centre Disadvantages: Difficult to make friends if you don't live on campus
After three years of studying, I graduated from Cardiff University with a degree in Journalism, Film and Broadcasting last Summer. I chose Cardiff on the basic premise of it being absurdly close to where I live, but this had many drawbacks as I found it much more difficult to make friends and interact with the other students whilst I still lived at home.
The School of Journalism that my studies were based within was extremely relaxed and has many facilities available, including screening rooms and a resourceful library. The only drawbacks were the attitudes of a good proportion of the administrative staff there who were often very unpleasant and the fact that I was not even made aware of who my personal tutor was during the three years I spent there.
The area itself though is excellent, with the campus being large but not so big ...
