I would thoroughly recommend Journeywise if you need travel insurance in a hurry. You can easily obtain an instant quotation for an individual, couple or family by going to their website www.journeywise.co.uk . There is no obligation to purchase and quotes can be easily re-worked using the ‘Back’ button on the web browser to enable comparison of various options. Journeywise provide both single trip and multiple trip insurance cover, for Europe or Worldwide, and there is optional winter sports cover as well.
Initially I was a bit confused by the difference between ‘Supercover’ and ‘Economy Cover’ but this is actually quite well explained on the website. Basically, Supercover provides more cash benefits in the event of a claim, for example £10 million for medical expenses as opposed to £1 million for Economy Cover, £1 million rather than £500,000 for repatriation, £2 million for personal liability rather than £1 million and so on. Economy Cover also provides no cover for delayed baggage and personal money and only £200 cover for a lost passport, with Supercover you get £100 more. Supercover also gives you about £4,000 more if your journey is cancelled than for their equivalent Economy Cover Policy. I did a comparison between a typical 5 day policy for a family travelling to Europe and the difference in premiums between Supercover and Economy Cover was only about 25p, so it is well worth paying the higher premium. Obviously if you’re going to be buying multiple trip cover for a family travelling worldwide the difference in premiums will be a bit more.
One of the reasons I like Journeywise is that you can get a quote on the internet, pay online using a credit card and have the policy emailed to you straight away. So it’s perfect for last minute getaways. I’ve just purchased a family policy for a five day trip to Europe and the cost was only £16.25 for Supercover. And as the prices already include insurance premium tax, there’s no nasty suprises.
I have recommended Journeywise to loads of my work colleagues and many of them have bought policies to cover summer holidays and various trips abroad. I have to admit that I’ve never had to claim as yet, but on a couple of occasions when I’ve had queries about policies I’ve purchased in the past, I’ve always been able to get hold of a telephone operator who has been able to explain various aspects of the policy in a simple yet concise way. All in all I’m really satisfied.

My friend insured with this company and whilst in Australia had some money stolen. She reported this to the police and submitted a copy of their report to Journeywise. They paid up no problem.
