...I check my Windows update page via the Internet regularly. I noticed the XP service pack being offered FREE you can either DOWNLOAD via UPDATES or order the CD via the mail. I used mail order, at the time I was a little uncertain of the Internet and myself.
The package came in a cardboard sleeve on 1 CD ROM(Microsoft suggest you give to a friend or family member once installed). The sleeve gives an indication of the minimum requirements of the machine it runs on:
1. CD - ROM Drive.
2. MICROSOFT WINDOWS operating system.
3. 233 - Mhz processor.
4. 64 MB of RAM.
5. 900-MB available hard disk space during installation.
They suggest you install immediately. Once in the drive you are presented with a menu and the? What to know before installing Service pack2

Advantages: Many features, reliable, OEM version is priced well. Disadvantages: Vista is out, DX10 not supported (not currently an issue)
...plug your device in and whether it be a USB memory stick or a Printer, Windows will probably detect it and you will be able to use it straight away! You may not get all functionality from the basic Windows drivers and have to download and install them but at least you can use your device!
Security is important to Windows XP and it has been given a brand new Security Centre in its update to Service Pack2, here you can configure Windows Firewall, which will protect your PC from anyone trying to hack you. You usually have to pay to get a firewall so the fact that Windows provides one for free is very welcome. Windows Automatic updates are also accessible from here, no longer do you need to visit Microsoft.com to get your updates (you can if you want to) it is so easy to configure Windows to automatically update itself with all the latest...
