I started buying this fund early 2002 when I believed tech stocks had been beaten down more than they deserved. The fund had fallen big time in value and everyone was talking about how techs were finnished and how they would never come back again.

Being the contrarian that I am this was a big flashing buy signal for me. I am a great believer in technolgy firing the imagination of the public, and I actualy think the bubble we saw in 1999 was only the first tremor in a major tech boom in the future years.

While most people laugh at the idea of "new economy" now, I think they had it spot on. It got inflated way to quickly though and hence the markets overeacted as always and punnished all things tech.

Think about it we becoming more and more reliant on the internet, most businuess will be conducted on it in years to come. When all households are fully hooked up to the internet (this is becoming reality very quickly) then the true boom will start to happen. This doesn't even take into account the biotechs which are still in their infancy with DNA and Gentic Modification promising fantastic new possabilities in the near future.

So what can we expect of a fund that claims to be based around technology? Well I certainly expect it to follow the market to a great degree, but I also expect it to outperform that market seeing as there is a supposedly knowledgable guy making sure only the cream is bought, and the duffers weeded out before they lose too much cash.

Why is it then that this fund only just manages to stay ahead of a tracker fund? I personaly think the managager has not done a good job, considering all the insider tips and buying power he has at his disposal.

However of late this seems to be reversing, and slowly the fund seems to be climbing the ranks. Hopefuly this is a sign that the manager has learned some valuble lessons and now this fund is a good oppotunity to get in at a relativley low price ready for the future super boom.
