Sadly, this is not to be one of my grandiose recommendations for a product. I have been colouring my hair for years - yes, I'm a bloke and I freely admit to using "product" as they say in the trade. I'll even go further and say that nowadays the colour is not just for fun but to minimise the impact of my greying crowning glory...
It all began when my sister started her hairdressing apprenticeship - she needed someone to give a colour, I volunteered. Later, I was also her first perm (hey it was the 80's!! if it was good enough for Starsky and Hutch it was good enough for me)... anyway my first colour went quite well and I enjoyed the way it seemed to rattle the establishment.
Since then I've gone on to buying professional product and doing my colour at home - Igofleur (similar to the Igora range) used to be one of my favourites, I tried blending various colours together and adopted the attitude that if you are colouring your hair, don't try to pretend it is natural... hence I used to add bleached tips or foils to vary the colour... or even add different colours to different parts of my hair - the leopard spots were a favourite for a while.
One day I wanted to just blend away a bit of the grey and the only place available was the supermarket - I tried Just For Men and was sadly disappointed. This is absolute BLAND city!! The colours are insignificant and it seems this product is designed with very feint-hearted men in mind. It seems to have been created for the man who is deluding himself more than others and just reeks of fashion conservatism - I wouldn't be surprised to find button-up cardigans, slippers, corduoroy trousers and London Fog jackets in this man's wardrobe.
The color was easy enough to apply - wash it in like shampoo, wait and then wash it out... but to what end... the range of colours was basically Black, Brown and Blonde - such imaginative colours - there is no hope of any individual expression with this stuff.
I'll continue to buy professional product where I have control over the look I can create - sometimes I want to be totally outlandish and Just For Men won't let THAT happen in a fit... if you are content to be a non-entity, blending in so that no-one will give you undue attention then JFM is the product for you - if on the other hand you're out to express yourself by having some fun with your hair then go to your local hairdresser and get something that's up to the job...
Just For Men - as long as the man is very insecure about what it means to be a man!!
