The original K2R Spray was a rather strong product that worked well on stains, although its toxicity put me off buying it. Not only that, its price tag was scarey.

As time went on, I noticed last week that they have a new diluted version of the spray and I decided to check it out and see if its new price tag of just over two pounds (equivalent) was worth it.

PRESENTATION

The new spray comes in a liquid form and unlike the old one, does not froth up at all. It is not meant to. It in fact sprays a fine mist over the area to be treated, and the bottle shape sits comfortably in the hand, as well as having a very good spray attachment that can be closed to stop little hands getting the liquid on them.

This is a relatively new product, and I wanted to see how it tackled the things that bug me the most about my carpets and their upkeep, i.e. rabbit hairs and the occasional rabbit accident.

USING THE SPRAY

Here, I do things the old fashioned way because I actually like to be close to the carpet when I clean it. I spray a particular area, and then with a softish scrubbing brush moved in a circular motion, I pick up all the hairs from my dear angorra rabbit.

Why do I need a spray for that ?

Well there are a couple of reasons. One, the dampness that the product puts on the surface of the carpet actually helps the brush to get all the hairs up off the carpet, and two, because the product has a very clear smell.

How does it compare with other carpet cleaning products ?

This product faired very well. They say that it has active oxygen in it and I am not sure what this means, but it does conjure up visions of lifting stains. In stained areas, I squirted more of the product than in other area, and left it to sit a while. Then, going back with a damp brush, I treated the area in a similar manner to all other areas, and was actually amazed that the stains remove easily.

Compared with other products that I have tried that come in powder form (which merely hide smells), and other liquid forms which leave a heavy froth on the carpet, this fine misted product is perfect for my needs and leaves the carpets fresh and also fresh smelling which is important, when you have animlas living in your home with you.

Drying time is really good as well, as the mist is very fine, except in areas where there has been heavy traffic and I use more, but within about half an hour, the lightly misted areas are clean and dry.

How do the carpets feel after using the product ?

I was concerned that the carpets would feel harsh after use of the product, and have been tempted in the past to use fabric conditioner on treated areas with other products. However, with this product it really is not the case. The carpet feels soft to the touch and extremely clean, and even the rabbit likes it, and does not shy away from areas that have been treated as he has in the past with other stronger smelling products.

Lasting effects

One clean on the carpets last several weeks, and a bottle of 100ml lasts me about a month which isn't bad at all. I feel when I have used the product that the disinfecting capabilities of the product are good, though not overpowering for the animal that lives loose in my lounge and his safety is paramount to me.

As for other problems like skin irritation, there was absolutely no irritation whatsoever.

Other uses.

This fine spray can be used on the bottoms of curtains, and on sofas and upholstery with no ill effect, leaving the whole room smelling fresh and clean.

Do I recomment it ?

Yes, I do. I think that the improved K2r is a good product and am happy that the frothing element of the product has been dealt with and the stain removing qualities actually enhanced. My carpets are cleaner than they have ever been, and I am happy to pay this amount to have clean carpets.
