Advantages: Good looking, detailed sound. Disadvantages: Only that in order to enjoy these to their full potential, they must be on a good pair of stands.

1. Sound Quality.
I find the Q1s very detailed & transparent with vocals. Mark Knoplers crunchy gruff sounding lyrics come across with breathtaking articulation and detail, whilst Heather small from m-people sounds open, very smooth, with a good rounded warm ambience that really stimulates. If you close your eyes, it really is quite a scary experience.
You will also be very surprised just how 'punchy' these speakers really are. Drum Delivery of 'private investigations' hit the chest with a formidable punch but was both overwhelming and non-lethargic at the same time.
2. Low frequencies
Whilst these speakers are not heavy on the bass, they can still deliver a low down punch that impresses anybody fortunate enough to be listening to them. These do go low (45 Hz) and will fornicate wildly with any baseline just as well as any big speaker. Just that they will shake your head, not your walls. (This is a good thing, as shaking walls not only colours the sound, but really annoys your neighbours, and we don't want that now do we?) If you want detail, intelligence, and clarity go for these. If you want punchy performance, go for these.
3. A note to the whining bass-heads
If you want wall shaking bass, go buy a cheap AIWA bass blaster monstrosity with flashing lights from Dixon's or something. Better still, buy a massive bass drum, you can whack that to your hearts content, you wont even need to buy any cd's then will you!!!
Verdict
The fact is the Q1's are like an F1 race car, finely detailed, tuned, and focused. They will not disappoint, the bass is there, the midrange is there, and the treble is there.. ITS ALL THERE and best of all, none of it competes with the other. They all compliment each other. This makes the Q1s very musical and very capable with all genres of music.
Advantages: Amazing sound, great build quality. Disadvantages: Needs careful positioning to stop the bass becoming 'boomy'.
a few more years and i've not got a new place with a larger room. It's then I realise my old Sony speakers just aren't up to the job any more.
Still with me?
Anyway it's at this point I decided to get some decent speakers to match my amp and cd player. After reading many good reviews of both B&W and Kef I decided to audtion some. I looked into the KefQ1s and the B&W 602 S3.
After much listening I decided the B&W's suited the music I listened to better.
# About #
The 602 is the largest of the 3 standmounts in the 600 range.
Coming in at 21kg for both speakers in one large box these probably aren't the best speakers to try and take home by foot as I found out. I was so worn out by the time I got home I had to recover for a few hours before being able to set them up.
Build quality is excellent. They feel solid and robust ...

Advantages: Very good sound for such a small & cheap speaker. Very dynamic & roomy. Disadvantages: Just slightly too bright, no deep bass, no bi-wiring.
quality cable used to connect the components and speakers. You should invest around £2 per metre for a copper cable with around 3mm diameter to connect the DM 302. For £3 per meter you can already get high-quality Kimber cables, which will reward the small investment with clearer, more accentuated sound.
Alternatives
There aren't many speakers with the DM 302's capabilities at the same price. But not all speakers sound well in every chain, thus you may want to consider the following alternatives to find the best speaker for your system:
ALR Jordan Entry S
KEFQ10
KEF Coda 7 (discontinued)
Mission 700
Mission 731 (discontinued)
Monitor Audio Bronze 1
All of the above trade at between £150 and £180 per pair, possibly much cheaper if bought second-hand, and can give an enormous boost to the sound of your stereo system ...
