Being a bit of a fast food fanatic, coupled with the fact that I’m too lazy to cook if the offer of a takeaway appears, you can often find me visiting my local Kentucky fried Chicken outlet to satisfy the hunger pains of myself and my family.
Obviously the only meat a KFC will offer you is chicken, which could cause some problems, especially amongst children who would maybe prefer a burger, but yet can’t manage the huge fillet burgers KFC have to offer.
The UK now boasts over 500 restaurants since the 1960’s. The difference between KFC and all other chicken outlets being the supposedly secret blend of herbs and spices that make the coating unique from anyone else. Personally I think some of the other companies such as Chicken Delight match fairly well in the taste test, but at the end of the day there’s just something about KFC that keeps me going back for more. I’m sure it’s not the prices though!
As with every other fast food restaurant all the food is available individually as well as being readily available as meal deals, which are designed to save you money.
Some of the typical food KFC will offer you:
- Original recipe chicken - combination of wings and drumsticks. - Chicken burgers - either plain or spicy chicken coated in batter, served with lettuce and mayonnaise in a bun. - Popcorn chicken - tiny pieces of chicken coated to look like popcorn. - Strips of chicken, and chicken served in tortilla wraps - these usually change from season to season, depending on the promotion, but will usually be served with lettuce, salsa, and mayonnaise perhaps.
There are also varieties of family sized meals on offer, which usually include fries, chicken pieces, and a couple of side orders to feed a family of four for approx £10.
There are always various promotions going on where KFC will offer a different burger or wrap etc, but I wont list those here as they change so often. Isn’t it a shame when they bring out something you really like only for them to take it away again before your next visit?
Also on offer are various side orders such as coleslaw, corn on the cob, beans, and even chicken gravy.
Prices of food:
A box of popcorn chicken will set you back £1.99 for a regular box. If you chose to opt for the meal deal option on this then for a regular meal it would cost you £2.99, which includes the chicken, drink and regular fries. Fries will cost you approx 80p, with a drink then being approx £1.00. In effect you do save a substantial amount of money, but for me I’m just as happy to steal some of my partner’s drink. I haven’t really saved a lot of money by choosing this option, but it’s a waste if I’m not going to consume the said items.
The average price of a meal deal will set you back between £2.99 and £3.99 depending on what you have. Burgers tend to be on the higher end of the scale. Comparing these prices to Burger King and MacDonald's, there isn’t a lot of difference. I believe it comes down to individual choice as to what you prefer eating.
The children are well catered for as well, with most of their meals at approx £2.49, which is in line with Burger King, but possibly a bit more expensive than MacDonald's. Included in the children’s meals are a toy and a drink.
The downside with kids eating at KFC is there is only chicken on offer, whereas at the other two restaurants, you can choose burgers, chicken or a vegetarian option most of the time. My daughter loves chicken but there is something about the taste of the batter at KFC that turns her off a bit. She will only eat the chicken strips, saying the popcorn chicken is quite spicy for her palate, and we steer well clear of drumsticks due to the mess it could cause.
Taste test:
I wish I was eating some right now to share the flavours with you, but alas this isn’t to be the case. I’ve never had a bad experience eating from KFC. The chicken has always been hot right through, which we all know how dangerous that could be if it wasn’t. The lettuce has always been fresh, with lashings of mayonnaise, just the way I like it. I’m sure there are some instances where people have experienced dodgy burgers etc, but as I haven’t I’m very happy to continue eating there. The fries are well cooked although I have had burnt ones in the past. I do prefer MacDonald's fries to KFC however. There’s just something about a MacDonald's chip.
Cleanliness of restaurants:
Every KFC I have ever been in and actually sat down to eat my meal has been of a satisfactory standard. We usually choose to take away our food and enjoy it at home. I’m not sure I have ever been in a restaurant and actually seen anyone sweeping the floor, which is a regular occurrence in MacDonald's and Burger King. Saying that I have never found any of the restaurants dirty, but I think people notice when they see a member of staff cleaning, whether it needs it desperately or not, and puts us at ease about our food.
Customer Service:
I have always been served in a decent manner. There may be a lack of smiling going on sometimes, but no one has ever been rude to me, and my orders have been right 99% of the time. I’m probably only picking about being smiled at because I work within a customer service industry, and therefore know how important that smile can be to the customers.
Is there anything I don’t like about KFC?
Well now I think about it, I’m always miffed at the age of the staff. They all appear so young. Don’t get me wrong I have nothing against that, but sometimes on occasions, every member of staff looks to be under eighteen. I just wonder why this seems to be the case. Is it because KFC can get away with lower wage bills? I do hope there is a supervisor hiding out the back somewhere. I’m sure this isn’t the case in all restaurants, but it seems to happen a lot near me.
Pros:
- Chicken - Averagely priced - Burgers are better for you than eating a hamburger from above said rival restaurantsCons
- Chicken drumsticks etc has very high fat content. - If you don’t like chicken don’t go here! - Don’t cater for vegetarians - I always have to ask for a fork when buying coleslaw (can you imagine how hard it is to eat with fingers!)
Well now I’m really going to have to resist going to KFC for my dinner tonight aren’t I after all that.
Advantages: Great taste but... Disadvantages: Unhealthy; dreadful chips; worst of all, they are propping up low welfare standards for chickens

3 - I LOVE KFC!
Here are some more important facts:
1 - KFC are one of the country's largest purchasers of chicken.
2 - All of their chicken options are made from chickens who spend their entire lives in a cramped shed with no natural light in really bad conditions.
Here is a final fact before I get on with the rest of the review:
1 - I will not buy KFC until ... ...proper review---
KFC (or PFK - Poulet Frit du Kentucky - if you are in Quebec!) has been serving up various sorts of fried chicken since the 1930's. Their chicken is deep fried and covered in a secret recipe of eleven herbs and spices. Essentially, you are either going to buy chicken pieces, chicken strips, wings, nuggets or popcorn chicken - and in some places, they also sell chicken kebabs.
In addition, they sell various side orders, including ...

...common. So how well do KFC fare in creating an entire fast food chain along the lines of variations on chicken? The chicken comes in three forms - burger, bites or bucket. The burgers usually contain a chicken fillet - whole meat and far less processed than the Burger King or McDonalds' equivalent - topped with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and a choice of various others including cheese or spicy sauces. The bigger burgers, 'towers', usually have a ... ...is a big fan of KFC burgers and invariably chooses these. The bites include a number of different meals. The recently launched 'popcorn chicken' mercifully does not actually contain popcorn, they are actually more like chicken nuggets, a tasty and simple meal for children served with a selection of dips. A more sophisticated alternative is the Twister, a tortilla stuffed with strips of fillet chicken, lettuce and tomato. This is probably the healthiest ...

...institution that we know as KFC began in 1952 when Colonel Harland Sanders’ first sold the franchise to the KFC “special recipe”. Over the relatively few years since it has achieved fantastic success, based upon the solid foundations of the Colonel’s secret recipe. My personal favourites are the twister meal (£3.49) and the zinger (spicy) tower meal (also £3.49). So what are they, well the twister is chicken in KFC batter strips rolled up in a tortilla with lettuce and a fantastically nice mayonnaise-based sauce, while the tower is a chicken burger ...

Advantages: Great Chicken Disadvantages: Not one near to my home
...I have been to KFC many times in recent years, despite there not being many KFC restaurants near where I live. Every time I have loved the food, however until now I never felt the urge to write an opinion about KFC. Even when the Chain Restaurant Competition on Ciao was announced, I still didn’t feel inspired to write about KFC. So what has changed? Well, at the weekend for the first time me and my grandparents bought one of KFC’s famous ... ...opinion. Enjoy.
BACKGROUND
KFC is a fast food chain restaurant that I believe is an American franchise in its origin. It is similar in concept to McDonald’s and Burger Kind, although it specialises in chicken. KFC is not located in enough locations for my liking, there are none in the main town I visit or in the main city I visit, but there are two KFC restaurants not too far away. They are based in various countries, I visited KFC in Spain ...

I have eaten many times in KFC and have always found all there food tasty and hot, well prepared and served fresh and hot. That is until Yesterday.
We ordered the KFC Variety bucket at £12.99.
What is the Variety Bucket?

Four crispy chicken strips,
A regular portion of popcorn ... ...four minutes drive from the KFC drive through so you expect the food to be still hot by the time my husband arrived home.

Advantages: Fast Service. Disadvantages: I don't know.
Just by GBP1, you are going to have 15 pcs of chicken at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in Indonesia. It is a new package or offer from KFC in Indonesia. Well, in this case KFC offers a package (containing 5 pcs of chicken) just for Rp4,545 (GBP1 = Rp14,000). Personally I see it is a great offer!
Well, I visit KFC with my son and wife once in a month. My wife and I do not love eating KFC's products, but my son does! It does not mean that I am anti-Americans? products!
As the fact, most of people living in Indonesia (especially the adults) do not prefer eating the products very much. But, concerning that having lunch or dinner at KFC is the simplest way (because they serve their consumers with the FAST FOOD concept), especially when we do not have much time, we must walk into KFC!
Another fact, I see that children living in ...

they do on the packet! (It might just be me, but this seems like a rarity when it comes to food, especially frozen products!)
Being my first food review, I really have no idea how to set about describing the taste, but I will say that if you've ever had a KFC, you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between the two.
There is quite a generous amount of portions in the packet - we have a family of 6 - including 2 rugby players, with, as you can imagine, large appetites - and there was plenty to go around. It's perfect with some chips r potatoes wedges, some baked or barbeque beans, and some coleslaw to round off the meal. What I also liked was that there was a good mix of drumsticks and thighs - you tend to find with most makes that the portions are mostly one of the other, but not here.
Considering the amount you'd pay to eat ...
Advantages: None Disadvantages: HFA are misleading KFC by their clever choice of words
Is KFC REALLY halal?
The true description of HALAL is when an animal is humanitarianly is killed in the name of 'ALLAH' and the animal lives a good life and is killed in the least painful way. BUT there are certain criterias that need to be met before an animal is pronounced Halal. This is where KFC have to do that little bit extra research.
Anyway I had been walking in Whitechapel High Street, London E1 and a woman gave me a leaflet with a smile, not to be rude I took it and stuffed it in my pocket. As i was getting bored on the train home I took out the leaflet and started to read it. As a muslim i was Very happy to learn that KFC are doing a 'HALAL' trial in east London to attract customers. I wasn't 100% convinced so I done a bit of research. For those who want to see the leaflet you can view it online in their website. the link is ...
