Kentucky Fried Chicken is a fast food outlet that specialise in variations of chicken. There are the chicken burgers, chicken wraps, boneless chicken, chicken drumsticks, chicken breasts, lots of different varieties basically which should mean that providing everybody likes chicken you should be able to get something for the whole family from one place.
The chicken is coated in a blend of spices and herbs that has been their secret recipe for around 80 years and is just something that I can definitely never achieve myself at home or even come close to!
The prices are pretty reasonable with a basic meal starting at around £3.50 and for this you will normally get some pieces of chicken or a chicken burger, wrap etc with a side of fries and a drink (coke, fanta etc).
The chicken is very full of taste and the herbs and spices are just the right blend without being too over-powering, it has this delicious taste to it that just makes me want to go back for more time and time again!
The chips are a real disappointment though and are pretty similar to McDonalds chips in that they are either over-salted, cold or both! But then I am enjoying the chicken and the corn on the cob too much to care about some cold chips!
Another speciality of KFC is the bargain bucket and this is normally around £10 for which you will receive 8 pieces of chicken (cuts may vary), 4 chips and normally two side orders. There are different variations of the bucket meals and you might also get boneless chicken, popcorn chicken, mini fillet burgers, bottles of drink or even desserts such as vienetta and ice cream etc.
You can sit down or take away your food to eat wherever you feel like it. In my experience of our local store in Harlow, Essex the tables are normally in need of a clean down and the floors like they haven't been cleaned in a good few days on the occasions that I've visited.
Also the other down side to visiting the store is the fact that the queue is always snaking out the door and if the weather outside is too hot or too cold I don't fancy freezing or sweltering just to order some dinner so sometimes this can deter me and I'll visit on of the other takeaway stores in the area.
Overall KFC is a little hit & miss, the chicken is great, the chips aren't. I've never experienced any problems with the sides apart from beans being cold but these can always be reheated in the microwave if they are really bad.
I am rating KFC 3/5 as the price is good, the chicken is but other factors such as cleanliness of the restaurant and how long I have to wait to order have dropped this down from what would have been a 5/5 rating.
