I have used many mail order catalogues in my time including all the old long established ones such as Freemans, Empire, Great Universal etc, but have always found their ranges to be limited and the quality and service pretty poor.
Now I have discovered an alternative! I came across the world of Kaleidoscope Mail Order Catalogue by chance through one of those mini-brochures often found in magazines and newspapers and often discarded without a second glance. This time was different, something on the cover caught my eye! Just what I had been looking for! A swimming costume in the design I wanted available in my (somewhat large) size and for the bargain price of £12! I had to have it!
I duly ordered my desired item by post. Ordering with Kaleidoscope is easy - you can fill in an order form and post it, phone your order through or go to their website and order online. Payment is easy and very flexible too which is great for me as I have no credit card, which is often a stumbling block, and I am on a limited budget. There is the option of sending a cheque with your order by post, giving your credit/debit card details by any of the ordering methods or taking up their offer of a Personal Account. This is interest free and allows you extra time to pay with monthly statements allowing you to pay the minimum (£5) or whatever you wish each time. As I was only ordering the one item and could afford it I paid using my Solo Debit card, again a nice change as there are few catalogues and online shops which seem to accept Solo as yet.
There is a fixed fee of £3.50 for your order no matter how many items it includes or the total value. This has its pros and cons obviously - good for a large order but for my one item it bumped up the price a bit although I was still happy with the total.
My order arrived just two days later and the swimming costume was perfect. Good quality, exactly as pictured, fitted well and I was pleased with the service. With my order they included their current full catalogue which has a vast range of clothing including classic and fashion items, electrical goods, furniture, small household items, gardening goods, jewellery and exercise goods. A great range, some of the furntiure is fantastic and I have seen nothing like it anywhere else!
This is a very tempting catalogue and I could spend a lot through it if I had the urge! I have since bought other items such as more clothes, a revolving CD display case and some small kitchen items. I have not been disappointed with any of the goods or the service so far. True, some of the more exclusive items can be pricey but there are bargains to be had and the quality is consistently good.
Once you have placed one order and received their catalogue they continue to send you their seasonal catalogues (2 or 3 times a year) but to date I have not been bombarded with junk mail from them. Like most other catalogues they run prize draws and competitions too which are free to enter and not dependent on ordering from them.
I feel this is one of the goodies in this field of shopping so if you are tempted by any of their goods then go for it!
Advantages: Bright colours and good designs Disadvantages: Need to pay a delivery charge
I’ve had a Kaleidoscope catalogue for nearly three years. Kaleidoscope presents a selection of stylish fashions and inspired ideas for the home. I have personally found it different from other shops and catalogues.
This catalogue includes a new collection of classic fashions, many bright colours and textures. The clothes are good quality and up to date design. There is something for every occasion and age. Some clothes are available up to ... ...a selection of home furnishings. Kaleidoscope has a very good range of shoes and boots. I really like their designer boots. You can find something to suit every taste. They’re not very expensive but good looking.
You can pay by credit card or by monthly personal account. You have the option to pay your minimum payment automatically by direct debit, which is very convenient.
You can order by phone, post or on their web site.
I have found ...

Advantages: Easy on-line site and fast delivery Disadvantages: I haven't found any yet!
If you have read any of my other reviews you will know that I work as a carer and it is very important that I have good strong sturdy foot wear as I am helping to move clients every day at work.
Because shoes are such an important health and safety issue when I'm at work I always wear Clark's shoes, but that's another review!!!
This one is about the mail order company Kaleidoscope, now to tell you the truth until last Friday I had never heard of ... ...bothered with all the crowds of people that would be out on Saturday shopping in my local town, so I settled back with a glass of wine and went shopping on-line.
I found exactly what I wanted but they were £39.99 plus delivery, so I typed the name of the shoe I was after in MSN search and it came up with Kaleidoscope, they are offering 10% discount off your first order so I ordered the shoes and they came to £36.00 including delivery.
This is Monday ...

Advantages: Very smart clothes at very affordable price Disadvantages: None as far as I am concerned
...somehow, I clicked on the Kaleidoscope link, which I must have missed before. I looked at the page Dresses and Skirts>Eveningwear, and I could see this marvellous dress, something every woman would have dreamed of. It was in gold satin, with a kind of black lacy bamboo shoots/leaves sown in it. It was very refined and delicate. I called my husband for him to see. We both agreed it was really lovely... But unfortunately it wasn't for me. I have got ... ...my experience of shopping with Kaleidoscope has been absolutely great, and I am sure I will shop with them again. Their service is fantastic. I can remember writing to them about a query and they replied in a very helpful way very quickly.
Now, a bit more about the website... After all, that is what I am meant to review...
Well the website is very easy to use... Just type in www.kaleidoscope.co.uk, and there you are on the welcome screen. There ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: An incompetent and ignorant company
This is a mail order catalogue company that also has a website. It sells a wide range of anything and everything really, from clothes to household and garden items. However, from my experience the goods often appear to be of a far better quality in the catalogue photos than they are in reality.
I ordered a dinner service from this company about 2 years ago. I was sent various parts in many different boxes during the next 12 months. I had to exchange ... ...decided to return the total order because it was of such poor quality and had taken so long to arrive.
Then the real trouble started. I was credited for some of the boxes that I returned then charged for them again. Some boxes (which I have proof of return) were not even acknowledged and I never received a refund for them.
Since then, I have been billed monthly for items that I returned and they have added £20 to each statement as a reminder fee ...

Quick review of Kaleidoscope
Their customer service sucks!
They don't even care to monitor the incoming email! When I wrote to them about my order upon placing it, they replied that I was writing too soon and should re-submit my enquiry in 48 hours!!! Ridiculous! And when I did so they said that my order had already been cancelled!
And similar things have happened a few times.
will never order from them again. ...

Advantages: No ironing fairy required, nice size range and styling. Disadvantages: Overpriced gadgets, ridiculous blurb, no website.
the exception of The Authentic Aloha Shirt of course, yes, it's in there, and in a kaleidoscopic range of colours too; oh dear). But there are lots of pairs of not crease-resistant but crease-free trousers in sort of cargo/combat style. They cost between fifty and sixty quid a pair which isn't particularly cheap I know. BUT, they really don't crease - my brother has some, Michael has some; I know. You put them in the washing machine, you wash them, you get them out, you hang them up and they look freshly pressed (that is the same as ironed, isn't it?). It's true, really. The t-shirt range is good too and comes in cotton, silk and linen sort of jersey materials all ok to look at.
There is a lot of awful stuff - those trousers that have super-duper clever zips which turn them into shorts and lots and lots of sort of safari style waistcoat things ...
