I grabbed this perch at the local store. It was cheap and seemed like a decent product.
I had a bit of a time fastening it to the cage. It has a wingnut screw design. Even with a standard small-bar parakeet cage, I couldn't get it to fasten steadily. The perch itself is just too heavy for this method of hanging, producing a very wobbly perch that dips down in the cage. It loosens with time, so to avoid a birdy fall it has to be checked regularly.
The birds love this perch for its abrasive surface. They do a lot of scratching on it, which will cause their feathers to turn the color of the powder that comes off, which some beauty conscious owners may dislike. It is also quite messy because of the dust. Buying lighter colors may be more ideal for these problems. I appreciate the thickness, as it keeps the birds' feet strong and entertained.
It lasts a long time. I've had one last over 9 months with 2 birds before the screw in the center became exposed. For the price I think this is a satisfactory product, it just needs an improvement in the fastener to keep it sturdy.
