I like things that look different and that are different to what everyone else has! When people buy me presents they like to try and get me things that are a bit different and things that are different. I was bought this interesting clock for Christmas which I thought was quite cute as I am a big lover of books. I didn’t necessarily need a new clock but as Christmas presents go, I did not think it was too bad and have put it in my home office to brighten it up.

Price and availability

This was a gift so I was unaware of the price when I received it but on looking on the internet it can be bought for around £18. (I now know that they spent considerably more on my than I did on them!)

Description

You can get the book clock in sophisticated classic black or in colour. The coloured books look a bit childlike so I would have preferred the black ones, nether the less I still do like the piece. The clock looks a bit cheap once you handle it and the novelty of having three fake books wears off when you realise that it is quite poor quality. The clock is not very heavy as they are made from paper so you can have it in a number of places but you are limited slightly by its monstrous size (20 cm x 15 cm x 20 cm. It really is quite a large cube! I have managed to nestle mine on a shelf with some other books. To help with reading the time there are some numbers written on 3,6,9,12. Other than feeling quite cheap in construction, the clock hands are really flimsy and noisy stutter round. They feel really pliable and a slight knock would probably knock the hands off!

Overall

This clock looks good from a distance and at first glance you think it is quite cool and interesting but after a while the novelty wears off. I am slightly disappointed with the clock, for one it is really noisy and two it just does not seem built to last.
This clock costs far too much and much more than it is worth. It would make a great gift if you can pick it up for less than 10 pounds but £20 is way too much!

Interesting design for a clock, shame that the quality is lacking.
