...feeling.
Karndean is a cutomised vinyl flooring which replicates natural forms of flooring without the recognised drawbacks. With it being a form of vinyl I have also found it is very much warmer than other products such as laminate. It is suitable for any room including bathrooms and conservatories and it is hygienic as it will not hold dirt and bacteria. We have found that this brand is also durable it has not chipped, splintered ... ...can be very noisy whereas Karndean is quiet underfoot and with a 1year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier in the house this is a great advantage. It is low maintenance, as opposed to natural flooring products this will not need sanding or repairing.
All the ranges within this brand have differing features, attributes and durability but all are suitable for any rooms within the home.
Upon moving into my house nearly a year ago my partner suggested that we get kardean flooring on our lower ground floor. I had never before heard of this brand so decided to investigate it further, I visited the brand website and from there ordered samples of the designs I liked. It took about a week for the samples to arrive and I also received a brochure explaining benefits of this product and showing the full range available.
We decided to go for woodplank from the Knight-Tile Range in the Sienna colour which is similar to a natural rosewood look. We made the decision to have the planks laid diagonally in the centre of the floor with an eight inch border which was laid at a 45degree angle to the central section with a silver strip in between. This give the advantage of making the rooms look larger and the warm colour gives a rich homely feeling.

All ranges are supplied with a guarantee the length of which is dependant on which range you decide to go for.
In addition to these ranges Karndean also offers a range of Borders including Geometric, Retro, Wave and Aztec. They also supply metallic and feature strips which can be laid either between tiles to create natural grouping effects or to add further design aspects to your floor, these can also be used to create a divide between the border and the rest of the floor as we have done.
Features are also available, these are the perfect way to add a centre piece to your floor. These are custom made and are available in most colours designs include Stars, Dolphins and Suns. We did not go for a feature in our lounge or kitchen but I may decide to put dolphins on my bathroom floor if I'm feeling adventurous.
As I said at the start of my review we have now been in the house just over a year and the floor has been down for most of that time, we have had no problems with maintenance or durability.
I feel that the design and colour we chose for our ground floor is perfect as it enables us to have a fairly neutral decorating scheme on our walls without the room looking bland.
Prices are dependant on range and size, our project which include hallway, lounge and kitchen cost in total approximately £2500 including fitting. It took about three days to complete the floor and was fitted by a registered engineer.
We did receive a care pack when the floor was complete, which is now coming to the end of it's life this included a basic cleaner and stripper which is used to remove any traces or glue once the floor has been fitted, a dim-glow floor protector which adds a slight polished look to the floor and also a protective sealant, a routine cleaner and several applicators. The pack also included furniture protectors so heavy items like couches do not harm your newly polished floor. These packs are also available to order from the website or your local retailer.
Overall I would definately recommend this brand to anyone who is interested it is easy to maintain and there's no need for a hoover!
Just a quick update, my partner has now started to supply and fit Karndean Flooring.
Should anyone be interested in a quotation please leave a comment and i will get back to you alteratively you are welcome to use my guestbook.
Advantages: Easy to install on Karndean subfloor Disadvantages: Subfloor cost more than the floor itself
...had to buy the correct Karndean subfloor from local plumbing centre, but directflooring2u.co.uk does not seem to be interested to give me refund. They did send a courier to collect the wrong jumpax floor. They are also quite rude on the phone. Will never use this company again, they are many other places that give better service. ...

Review of Karndean Flooring
...20sqm of Island Limestone Alderney Karndean flooring from DirectFlooring2U, had great service and the flooring is great. I've had laminate in my kitchen before but I couldn't mop it!!!!! It drove me mad. So i went to my local retailer who showed me this stuff. Its waterproof so i'm able to mop it, they even offer a range of cleaners that i use on both my laminate and my karndean it works really well and once again my kitchen is clean. Its also really ... ...foot making it much better suited to English winters. The only problem was the one i liked was the dearest of the lot and although i saved a fortune (£400) by buying online it was still expensive for a floo. But then again I did pick the dearer one. I'm now saving to get the laminate replaced in my hall and i'm telling all my friends to do the same. ...

...A friend of mine recommended karndean as an alternative as it doens't scrath and looks very realistic. I then went top me local retailer and was impressed by the look and feel but not the price i couldn't believe how much they wanted to charge me for such a small room!!! I sourced the products online and arranged the fitting with a local trader who did a fantastic job saving myself over £300 pound. Its been down for 6 months now and still looks brand ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Scratches, becomes dull and gets huge gaps
We ordered the karndean da vinci flooring and what a RUBBISH product. After paying £2800, The installer came to fit, after the day was done, we had "gorgeous" floors. After a few days the gaps started to show on all the boards. We ordered the most expensive of the product range available so expected it to be the best, this is almost £1000 more expensive than wood. The gaps have gotten worse than ever and we have 2 - 3 mm gaps almost on every board ... ...you are looking at which flooring option to go for is misleading and incorrect. The Karndean customer services are even worse than the product as far as sorting problems - they are coming up with all sorts of excuses as to how it is not there error. ...

Advantages: Minimal Fuss, Cheap and Look Effective Disadvantages: Cutting upto walls and doors
I recently bought some Self Adhesive vinyl tiles for my elderley neighbour, to freshen up her kitchen, as she wanted a change on a limited budget. She does not have much money, so i gave her the idea of just sticking down self stick vinyl tiles on top of her existing vinyl (it has been down 20 years, very clean still but a dodgy terracotta swirly design and makes the room look dingy). I recently purchased some luxury vinyl tiles for my home which i wrote a review about on ciao (KarndeanFlooring) so i knew "vinyl tiles" were a great product, but as my elderley neighbour lived on her own and was not too bothered about interior design i set about on my mission to find a cheap self adhesive vinyl tile i could lay for her with minimul fuss and expense.
As i bought my vinyl tiles from www.flooring.uk.com, i knew they sold self adhesive ...
