It’s a sad state of affairs but these days security is close to being top of many peoples priorities, be it personal security or making sure your property stays in your possession and not taken by some little toad who thinks getting a proper job and actually earning some honest cash is beneath them.
Being safe and secure is very important in most people books, and trying to keep your personal property safe is paramount, especially with the cost of insurance sky rocketing every other day, and then, if the worst does happen, god forbid, actually getting your Insurance company to pay out for your loss.
In fact, a lot of those insurance companies wont even cover certain parts of your property, such places like your garden shed or a garage which is not attached to your house.
So, here I am to tell you about a cracking little alarm which will warn you off any intruders who are planning on snooping around you prize possessions inside your shed… it is the splendid wireless, battery operated alarm from those chaps at Kasp.

** What is it then?
  • It is a wireless, battery operated shed/garage alarm system, which comes to you as a double unit kit… the larger unit being the sensor itself which sits inside the shed or garage that you want to protect, the other being the ‘receiver alarm‘, which will blast out if the sensor is activated..
  • It comes with a low battery warning indicator.
  • Auto reset
  • A 30 second delay on setting
  • 90 decibel alarm or even a less horrific chime
  • With a range of approximately 30 metres, dependant on obstructions such as buildings and the like.
  • Plus a very handy little burglar deterrent window sticker.

NOTE:
* You will need to supply 7, yes seven, AA batteries.

** IN CONCLUSION…

What a simple little device this is, and what a noise it makes , alerting you to any trespassers who have wondered into your outbuildings.
It is so easy to set up as there are no wires to worry about, simply place the sensor unit inside the building you want to alarm, either by putting it on a shelf or attaching it to a wall, then take the ‘remote control’ into your home, turning it on once your out of the alarmed building.
If the sensor picks up anything then the siren on the remote alarm, which you take into your home, lets you know.

I actually have two of these installed, if installed is actually the right phrase considering there’s very little installation involved. I have one in the shed at the far end of my garden, approximately 25 metres away, and the other is screwed to the wall in the kids shed, which is slightly closer to the house, and as there is no electricity supply to either buildings these battery operated wireless alarms are very useful indeed.

I tried and tested this as soon as I fitted it into place, trying to find the ideal position for the sensor, aiming it towards the door and the small window, the little red indicator light blinking when the sensor unit is switched on.
I then proceeded to try and get into the shed, which is pretty secure to start with so it’s a good job I have the keys, but as I opened the door the PIR sensor picked up my movement straight away, triggering the rather loud siren, and when I say loud I mean loud, shrieking out like a cat in a blender, giving me a fright at first, the remote unit in my hand letting me that the PIR sensor had been activated.
I was even quite impressed with the alleged 30 metre distance the instructions claimed that the remote box could still connect to the sensor, as I said one of my sheds is a good 25 metres from the house and, although there is not many obstacles between them, the two small units stayed in harmony with no faltering at all, which is good.

* Plus…
The little sticker that comes with the alarm pack is quite neat looking and, when placed in view of anyone closing in on your shed, may even deter them from illegally entering your property… hopefully.

You may note straight away from the actual positioning of the PIR on the sensor unit that it has quite a narrow ’pick up’ range, but this is not really a problem if you position the sensor in the right place.

The price for this splendid wireless alarm ranges from £20 to £30, depending where you buy it from, but even for the higher price you’re still getting a bit of a bargain.
In all, it is a cheap and very easy to fit warning system which will let you and your neighbours know if someone has broken into your outbuilding.

** One thing to note…

* It is not designed to be used onside of the shed or garage as it is not weather proof, but if fitted inside the shed/garage then it will work a treat.
