Kawai rx-2
Review of Kawai RX-2 Classic Grand Piano by
MsTree
Advantages: Lovely dynamics
Disadvantages: could be a bit more responsive
...I played this piano for the first time today, it really makes a difference when you play a grand which has more length to it, the sound is louder and clearness of each note really stands out. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this piano and would recommend it to any one who is thinking about buying a new grand piano on a reasonable budget. I also liked the style and thought it looked particulary professional in ebony with a polyester finish. However when I looked at pianos such as Bechstein and Steinway you can tell the difference in quality, like going to buy a ford car and then trying a BMW. But I suppose that reflects in the prices. Anything smaller than this piano I've been told probably isn't worth it at a professional level. Baby grands only really serve the purpose of looking nice....

A beast of an instrument
Review of Yamaha CFIIIS - 9´ Concert Collection Grand Piano by
scoobyman
Advantages: A full concert grand for 30 odd grand less than Steinways
Disadvantages: Not quite a Steinway
...The Yamaha concert grand may be considered as a poor mans Steinway. In many ways this is true, but there are many aspects to this piano that deserve recognition. The Yamaha concert grand is certainly in the top 5 most popular pianos used at major concert halls.
The sheer size of this piano gives a “big” sound – especially in the base. Though this is piano which has an almost mass produced feel to it, this does not really show too much in the sound. True the tone is quite harsh at times, but this can work as an advantage in certain pieces, giving a definite fresh feel to the sound.
If you are considering going for a concert grand, firstly make sure you have a large place to house it – if not, it can easily be overpowering. If you can afford a Steinway concert grand, I would always advise that (see my review). If you cant stretch...
