After riding my triumph Tiger, this little old Kwakka was quite dismal, however for the price and ability the Kawasaki GT750 was a bargain.
Almost anywhere these days you can pick up any GT Kwakka for between £250.00 to £1000.00 depending on it's age and condition. I was pretty lucky as I got the 750 model 1987 on an E plate still with mot for £200.00, and what made it better was that it had a GPZengine fitted. Although the engines are very similar, the GPZ is a bit more powerful, hence quicker.
Power wise the machine is great, and the riding position is far more comfortable than most modern bikes, but then that's my preference, I've never really liked dropped bars. The biggest drawback with this one though is due to the shaft drive system which I find makes gear change a bit lumpy and tends to drag on corners. Not having tried a standard chain driven one, I can't really compare it.
As far as design goes it is fairly basic and old looking, though in it's own category is one of the better machines for looks, and admirably for the power it kicks out. When it's on song it sounds awesome with it's 4 into 1. Maintenance is quick and simple usually, the only real work comes when you have to get into the lower engine parts which unfortunately I have to do. It's quite a rare occurrence for bottom end problems on these bikes but they do eat cam chains and tyres, though no more I suppose than any reasonable large bike.
Over all for a cheap commuter with some serious power the GT750 is on the ball, it even carries a pillion with ease and little effect on handling. An oldie but goody.

Advantages: Handles well for a 'budget' bike, friendly for newbies and fun for the experienced. Engine good Disadvantages: Suspension could do with improvement, brakes are only so-so.
