Hi welcome back to,
Let me just tel you that i recently owned a 1999 plate zx6r so i can immediatley tell you that this is a great bike for both new riders and the experienced rider looking for a thrill.Let me just say, dont be put off because its a pre 2000 model, i have personally found that the zx6r is deffinatley quick enough and keeps up with new bikes of the same size with both speed and acceleration. The gear changes are nice and smooth which help with new rider confidence. I found it very comfortable for some shorter rides, however very long rides become uncomfortable with the slightly more race positioning. Handling has never been an issue even with some speed.
All of the clocks and switches are at hand and are very easily accessable without too much movement. Also the original lights are very addiquate for night rides on lit and unlit roads. There comes a pillion passenger seat which my passengers ha told me is very comfortable. The bike itselft does not feel too big and heavy which some other pre 2000 are.Thank you for reading, i hope it helps in your choice....

far too brief for a review on a modern motorbike - DON'T SUGGEST THAT THIS BIKE IS SUITABLE FOR NEW RIDERS ! ! ! ! - It isn't - in the same way a Porsche 911 is a suitable car for new drivers. Hell this bike can accelerate from 0 - 60 in 1st gear in under 3 seconds - what on earth makes you think a new rider would be able to handle it? ? ? Also trying to put emphasis on its speed and it keeps up with more modern, bigger bikes is simply wrong - If you are riding with friends that you have to work the bike hard to keep up with then either yourself, or your friends atitude it wrong. Get on a racetrack if you want to compare outright performacnce.
