Hubby bought it new on an R plate and we still love it. I don't ride as yet <smile> but I love to ride pillion on this beast of a machine. From my point of view it's Very Comfortable and I don't sit with my head in the clouds like a lot of pillions do. I don't get the wind nearly taking my lid off ... ...foot rests are easy to find and the grab rail is not too small to fit a gloved hand in. There's plenty of room on the back seat for me but I do like to be close!!!!
It's fast, it's meaty, it's the BEAST of all machines and I love it!
There's nothing like sitting at the lights next to a young wippersnapper on his 600 than to take his breath away when we're a mile down the road before he's even noticed the lights change!!! more

Right okay, Maintenance: As with all motorised vehicles these days you need to keep on top of the servicing. Depending on where you go depends on the price you pay, the maximum price you should be paying for a full service anywhere in the UK is £350.00GBP (and this is high). If on the other hand you are an experienced DIYer, you can in fact service your machine for less than £70. The dearest of which will be the oil and plugs if you want continued reliability and performance. If you're a fairweather rider and leave your bike laid up for the winter months, then an essential thing to check are the front brake callipers as they are renowned for binding on when left unused. Period of time in which they cease up if left unused is approx 3 mths.
Performance: The phrase 'Plastic Bullet' comes to mind. Straight line performance is beyond belief, but as with any large bike, sharp cornering at high speed don't go together..! This bike has a dry weight (that's without oil, petrol, brake fluid and water) of 255kg. So you can imagine trying to throw this beast into a 90 degree hairpin, it aint gonna corner that quickly. On the whole performance wise, if you're not prepared then you will be scared!!!!!!
Looks: When we saw the bike in the showroom it stood out and we both said 'that's the one for us'. STUNNING! Extremely aero-dynamic: if it's dirty then you clean it, you CAN feel the difference!
Fuel Consumption: Even when it's been blasted down the road <grin> hubby has still had around 35 to the gallon and has had 220 miles to the tank. When we first bought the bike it cost eight quid to fill, now it costs fourteen quid to fill it! but that's because of the fuel increases.
Overall view of this beast is : It's a sports tourer. It goes fast in a straight line and is comfortable round the bends for both passenger and rider. Hubby says the riding position is quite comfortable but on excessively long journey's of 200 miles plus, his hands and wrists get knackered.
We've ridden it in all weathers, winter, spring, summer and autumn, and found this bike to be the most reliable we've ever had. Apart from the three yr old battery dying, it has never ever let us down (touch wood!).
Advantages: Fast, Economical Disadvantages: Heavy, Stock front brake calipers
I bought a 1992 H reg from Ebay last year. I initialy wanted a V-Max, but the Scottish Weather is really not good for that. I wanted a torquey bike that took off when you asked it to.
Well the Big Zed does that perfectly. It is fast, nippy and still looking quite fashionable. I managed to do 54mpg on a trip ridden at National Speed Limits (60mph max.) But if you have fun with it you can expect about 170m before the reserve (15l) the tank takes 21l

Review of Kawasaki ZZR1100c
Advantages: Fast, comfortable. Disadvantages: Handling of an ocean going supertanker
The ZZR1100 sports tourer is a fantastically powerful motorcycle, in fact, it's almost fast enough for the Grin Reefer. With the addition of a turbo or nitrous-oxide injection, this machine is capable of breaking the 200 mph mark with ease. Unmodified it will still take you through a mile in under 20 seconds! The main downside to this machine is the inability to change direction in an acceptable time and the requirement of a mate or two to get it ... ...the thing .
Overall, if you straight line speed, with a lot of comfort... this could well be the bike for you. On the other hand, if you can ride and want to ride, get something smaller.... there are few places you can reach the top speed (I know, I've tried) ...
