Advantages Advantages Delicious outer coating, widely available, on offer.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sugar content, high retail price, sour filling on occasions.

Elevenses. I'm sure you have heard that expression before. Definition: A snack around 11am, something to keep you going until lunch. Up until a few weeks ago, I was having a yogurt and fruit at this time, however upon some shocking discoveries about the yogurt I was consuming three times daily, I decided to cut down, and try out something else. In Asda, I paced the aisles getting distressed, unable to find something that would suit. It was only when my mum suggested cereal bars, that my mood lifted and I darted off to find some! The cereal bars were situated in the boxed cereal aisle, and were ... more

I’ve never been a huge breakfast type person. I spent most of my youth avoiding this ‘Most important meal of the day’. I just couldn’t eat it, couldn’t deal with it and when I did, usually felt really sick for it. When I got a tad older, it was coffee and a fagg, that was good enough for me, or a tea, but usually coffee. Till a few years ago (I think) a revolution was upon us, ‘The Cereal Bar’! When I discovered these I found I could have a light breakfast, not ant to snack at 11am and go through till lunch without feeling sick and bloated. Here’s my op on Kellogg’s Nutri-grain Bars, enjoy xx ... more

    Advantages Advantages Individually wrapped, convenient

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too many additives for a 'healthy' alternative & EXPENSIVE!!

Review of Kellogs Nutri Grain Soft Oaties This is a relative newcomer to the Nutri Grain stable of sweet snacks and biscuits. The product comes in two flavours, oat and fruit, oat and chocolate. It is the Oat and Chocolate version that I am reviewing. **The Product** A round shaped cookie style biscuit, individually wrapped. The product comes in a box containing five x 40g cookies. The Nutri Grain range can usually be found among the 'breakfast bar' products in most supermarkets. The range is marketed as an alternative 'healthy' snack or breakfast replacement. I purchased the product on ... more

Any females out there recognise this story? Right, I really must lose some weight, I’ve got my holiday/the Ciao meeting/my wedding/a friend’s wedding/a leaving do to go to in a few months..... I’m doing OK today so far, had a healthy breakfast and lunch and dinner – feeling good..... Help! Help! I HAVE to eat something NOW! I know I will have wasted the day dieting if I eat something fattening late at night, but I just can’t stand these cravings any more. No, I’ll drink a pint of water and it will go away..... It hasn’t and now it is even later – I’ll just have to promise to run a marathon ... more

Advantages Advantages Handy, tasty and healthy

Disadvantages Disadvantages A tad small and not very filling

There seems to be a lot fuss made these days about how important your first meal of the day is. Normally called Breakfast, this will mostly consist of dragging your half dead carcass into the kitchen in the morning and helping yourself to a great big bowl of cereal smothered in full fat fresh milk followed by a nice hot cup of your favorite coffee or tea if you prefer. Sound familiar? Well what happens when things don’t always go this lethargically smooth? Picture this, there is a power failure on your street at three am in the morning handily knocking off your alarm clock. You wake up ... more
