Kellog's Frosties takes me back in time to my childhood, in the summer I would get Kellog's Frosties before going to school and in the Winter I would get given Ready Brek....Yuck...

So you could say I loved the Summer months, although in Scotland you can get all the seasons in an hour...as all visitors will no doubt testify...

My memory reminds me of the silly advert featuring the Tiger character called Tony, Tony always said "They're Greeaat", spelling mistakes intended..Tony still features on the nice Blue Packet.

The Frosties packet also contains loads of details on them, some of which will follow...

So what are Kellog's Frosties, sorry to shatter the illusion of them being "Sugar Frosted Flakes of Corn", they are essentially CornFlakes with added sugar...

So why bother with them then?

The reason I do like them is this....You eat your cereal and get ready or watch TV and then you get to the bottom of the bowl and discover the little drop of milk that is always present and when you scoop it up then you realise that a spoonful of sugar is with it and so you either eat the sugar and milk or waste it...Frosties are great since they have the sugar attached and the left over sugar scenario does not happen...now all I need to manage is the milk puddle..

So yes they do taste very much like Cornflakes except the sugar, they are as the description says " Flakes of Corn". They smell like sweet flakes of corn and are quite crunchy in the mouth unless they are soaked in milk for a while..

They do get soggy after a while in the milk but name a cereal that doesn't and after a few days not even the cats will look in the direction of them..not that that happens as I seem to eat them pretty much within a few minutes...

I do have to admit that whilst they are a breakfast cereal I rarely eat breakfast unless it's cooked and contains more grease than a Chip shop, but hey it's morning all over the world at different times so pretend you are there and eat them whenever you want...just like me...

I have always associated Frosties as a kids cereal and only recently purchased them again whilst on a local shopping trip I noticed them at the amazingly cheap price of around £1.10 for a 750 Gram packet which normally cost around £2.35, they do work out slightly more expensive than Kellog's Cornflakes but you do save money on sugar unless you still have a sweet tooth...They come in a small size of 500 grams for around £1.20, shop around though...Safeway had the deal then ASDA....

Now the technical bitty, Frosties have the following ingredients : Maize, Sugar, Malt Flavouring, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Niacin, Iron, Vitamins : B2, B6, B1 and B12 and Folic Acid.

They do state that they may contain NUTS, which is important for some people...

Kellog's Frosties tell us loads of great information on the packet like :

They are great for your bones as they contain Calcium for Healthy Bones.
They contain B vitamins and Iron whilst they are high in Carbohydrate which helps maintain your concentration. (Important when writing/reading this)
Great for Physical Energy due to the Carbohydrates, Vitamins and Iron.
Great for a Healthy Heart due to them being low in saturated fat which in a proper diet aids reduction of Cholesterol.
Low in fat at 3 % which helps maintain a healthy weight..So can I eat three bowls then?

All the Nutritional information is broken down clearly and shows what a 30 Gram bowl should consist of as follows :

Protein 6 G
Carbohydrates 33G which Sugars 19G Starch 14G
FAT 2G which saturates 1.5G
Fibre 0.6G
Sodium 0.25G

Vitamins: % RDA

Thiamin B1 30
Riboflavin B2 40
Niacin 25
B6 30
Folic Acid 30
B12 75

Minerals

Calcium 36
Iron 17

The packet tells you the larger quantities as well as the Energy values of 750 KJ per 30 G serving, to really let you see what your eating it also tells you the milks content...great for some folks no doubt..I just eat...

A 750 gram packet contains around 25 servings they tell us.

What more could you want than the Royal Seal just to prove the appointment to HM The Queen Purveyors of Cereals.

Kellog's have loads of contact information on the packet :

The website at www.kellogs.co.uk or www.kellogs.ie

Email at help@kellogsconsumercare.co.uk, or www.kellogsconsumercare.co.uk for comments or general enquiries.

Telephone at the freephone number 0800 626066 in th UK or 1800 626066 in the ROI, weekdays 8Am to 6PM

Or good old snail mail at :

Kellog's Consumer Services Department.,PO BOX 356., Warrington. WA4 6XY.

Kellogs are so switched on about the environment they give you the information that the packaging is over 90 % made from Recycled material and also the fact they are supporters of Encams an Environmental group.

The Frosties I bought also has a CD with a PC football game, since I don't really like football it has stayed in the Kitchen...but Katie my kitten seems to like playing with it...

With that I'm off to have another bowl of them, doubt it will be 30 grams though and the nilk puddle will still be there...
