Advantages Advantages No Caffeince, Reasonable Price, Made From Sustainable Coffee Developments

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not As Tasty, Lack Of Aroma.

It is a sad fact of life that I am self confessed caffeine junkie. I live on a combination of Pepsi and coffee, actually, make that I used to live of a combination of Pepsi and coffee because as a resolution, I am giving up caffeine or at least trying hard to. Out went the Gold Blend, out went the Pepsi and in came smoothies, juices and Kenco Decaffeinated Coffee Granules. As a student, I find drinking coffee an incredibly social activity and I would loathe stopping drinking coffee altogether, so, rather than doing that, I opted for switching to decaffeinated coffee. One of my main reasons for ... more

Advantages Advantages Better than most decafs, nice jar

Disadvantages Disadvantages Still too bitter for me, funny back taste

I get through unhealthy amounts of coffee at work. The stuff dispenced by the vending machine isn't actually too bad (ground to order & wait 1min for the cup to appear) but at 30p/cup it soon mounts up. Accordingly, I've started bringing in my own coffee & partaking of the 'dispense hot water' option on the vending machines. I've now settled on Kenco Really Smooth Roast but in a fit of 'healthyness' I did have a go with Kenco's Decaf. Previously, I put on my good citizen hat and picked up a jar of Co-Op Fair Trade Rich Roast. I'd like to say nice things but this was the most god-awful coffee I ... more

Advantages Advantages Great taste, good value for money

Disadvantages Disadvantages Expensive but all coffee is nowadays.

As you go out shopping for the weekly shop you will prabably have coffee on your list. I would recommend Kenco and this is why... TASTE Subtle and calming but too much in one cup is too strong. A small teaspoonfulin a mug should do the trick. WHERE TO HAVE IT It is the perfect coffee blend for having as an accompanyment to dinner parties and a great drink for when you are reading. PRICE In general, a small jar of this coffee retails at around £1.50 but you can get it cheaper from places like Costco and Home Bargains. PRODUCT INFORMATION The product is made by the Nestle corporation who also ... more

Advantages Advantages it does actually taste like the real thing

Disadvantages Disadvantages eventually the body learns that there isn't going to be a coffee buzz.

My name is Bryn, and I've been addicted to caffeine for a long time, but I'm trying to quite. (At this point I should sit down to rounds of applause from the other members of caffeine junkies anonymous.) Coffee normally has a lot of caffeine in it. Caffeine is addictive, it contributes to insomnia and high blood pressure, and has health implications for children and pregnant women. The trouble is that I love the taste, and I am an addict. I mostly gave up caffeine a couple of years ago, managing to become a social drinker only, having the odd cup at weekends or with meals out. I had always ... more

Advantages Advantages Tastier than most decaffs

Disadvantages Disadvantages Still not as tasty as real coffee

It has long been said that it is impossible to produce a deccaffeinated coffee without losing the strong flavours inherent in real coffee. This seemed to me to be a very sad state of play and so, with this in mind, I recently decided to try one of the more expensive and respected brands on the market in order to dispel the myth. Read on to see whether I succeeded (although I know that the title is a bit of a giveaway) These days everybody is a coffee expert and so it is easy to dismiss everything that is not either percolated or sold by a high street coffee store to be of inferior quality ... more
