WHAT IS KENCO REALLY SMOOTH? Kenco brought out this freeze dried coffee at the same time as “Really Rich” and “Really Dark”. The three products seem to be designed for different strengths of coffee. For example you would assume that the “Rich” would be the strongest, and “Smooth” the weakest, in which case I would prefer the rich one being a STRONG coffee lover. However as my partner prefers weaker coffee, I brought one of Rich and one of the Smooth, just to be nice! Surprisingly I preferred the Smooth one. HOW TO MAKE TRELEY THE PERFECT MUG OF COFFEE You will need in front of you: One large ... more

Advantages Advantages Makes decent black coffee, smooth yet works well strong

Disadvantages Disadvantages No use if you're a Fairtrade fan.

I get through unhealthy amounts of coffee at work. The stuff out the machine isn't actually too bad (ground to order & wait 1min for the cup to appear) but at 30p/cup it soon mounts up. Accordingly, I've started bringing in my own coffee & partaking of the 'dispense hot water' option on the vending machines. I started with Kenco decaf in the green jar. OK but rather bitter for me. Next up, I put on my good citizen hat and picked up a jar of Co-Op Fair Trade Rich Roast. I'd like to say nice things but this was the most god-awful coffee I think I've ever drunk. One cup could ruin your day and ... more

Kenco Really Smooth Coffee I first came across this Kenco Really Smooth when we went to Lego land and stayed for the night in a Travel lodge. They had these sachets in the room and because I had run out of the tea bags I decided on trying a coffee. This is when I realised that I did actually like coffee and so my obsession began! These Kenco Really Smooth sachets only have a piddly amount of the granules in the packet and therefore I did feel the need to double up on them and when I returned home I decided on buying a regular sized jaw from the supermarket. Unfortunately it wasn't' on special ... more

Advantages Advantages Makes a great cuppa

Disadvantages Disadvantages There are cheaper brands out there

I do like the odd cup of tea, but generally I would definitely describe myself as a coffee drinker and always start the morning and end the day with a nice cup of coffee. I am not loyal to a certain brand and tend to purchase whatever is on offer at the time as coffee does tend to be rather expensive so I try to save money where possible. I am not overly keen on the really cheap brands so tend to stick to the likes of Nescafe and Kenco when money allows and you can often get two jars of Kenco for around the £5.00 mark so I tend to go with this when possible. A standard 100g jar of Kenco is £2 ... more

Advantages Advantages SMOOTH, GOOD STRONG TASTE, RELATIVELY CHEAP

    Disadvantages Disadvantages NOT FAIR TRADE

My local corner shop doesn't stock fair trade coffee, which I have to say I always prefer to buy. It does, however, stock Kenco Really Smooth, and I have to say, ethics aside, it is a coffee which I really enjoy. With its distinctive scarlet label and lid, a 100g glass jar of this taste sensation will cost you in the region of £2.40 - Tesco price is currently £2.38 for a 100g jar, £4.68 for a 200g jar, and £5.78 for a 300g jar. If you drink your coffee as strong as I do, then you're probably looking at a 100g jar lasting you a week, so buy in bulk or go for a bigger jar, as it works out ... more
