Kensington Laptop Lock

Advantages: Increase in laptop security
Disadvantages: Not the ultimate solution, but that cant be helped.

INTRODUCTION ------------------------ What this nice bit of kit does, in a nutshell, is to act as a secure tether from your laptop to a stationary bit of furniture, for example, a radiator, or desk post. Thus reducing the ease at which the laptop could be ?re-located? when you don?t want it to be! MUST READ ? To even think about getting this product you must have the correct docking slot for this attachment to fix into, otherwise it?s just a waste of money as you can?t attach it to your laptop. The good thing is that this ?docking slot? (its a little flattened oval shape on the side / back of the laptop with a small unlocked padlock above it. The laptop manual should tell you where, and if you have one.) is pretty much a standard on most laptops now. Also if you don?t have a slot, you can get conversion kits from Kensington ...

Kensington Mortgages

Advantages: You get what you need out of them
Disadvantages: Obscenely high interest rates, no reward for loyalty.

I took over a mortgage with my partner in 2005 following her messy divorce and our of desperation with all the debts her ex left her. We were directed to Kensington via a local Broker, which I have now learnt to be probably more to do with their high rate of commision to the broker and little to do with our own personal circumstances. The most they would offer us was £60,000 despite the value of the house being £30,000 more. This was largely due to the absolutey massacred state of my partners credit rating because of the joint finances the ex left her paying..... and the fact I was only on a modest full time wage (NHS!) By the time all the kinks were ironed out, including removal of a charge on the house thanks to the cursed ex, we were relatively happy to have settled, had enough left over for the rest of the double glazing ...

Review of Kensington Mortgage Company

Some things are just overlooked...

Advantages: Good quality, feels secure
Disadvantages: It doesn't do much, but its not supposed to

I'm off to uni in october, and i'm going to be taking my laptop. I know you don't really think about it, but how many people are actually concerned about having things stolen from their rooms whilst at uni? Probably the most expensive item in there that will appeal to burglars will be the laptop. All laptops are built with a "Kensington Security Slot" already. Many people don't know it exists. Other people just think of it as a small hole in the side of the laptop. This hole can be the difference between having a laptop after returning from some place and not having a laptop. The Kensington Security Cable is the best way to secure the laptop. It works simply as a cable tie. One end is looped to itself, so that the other end can be tied into a hole in the table or table leg (or some sort of fixed hole elsewhere) and through this ...
