The makers of this Trackerball - "Kensington" provide excellent customer service through thier website as I had to contact them regarding compatibility issues that had arose with using it with Linux.
All in all an excellent Trackerball and a brilliant solution to a very common problem.

A good feature of this trackerball is how it lights up on movement and creates a blue ambient light, I feel that little touches like this add to an overall good impression of a high quality product.

The Kensington Orbit Elite Trackball is by far the best mouse I have used. Over the years it is easy to get throught mice as they become dirty and clogged up. This one is different and the manufacturer must also believe in the product as it comes with a 5 year warranty. I have had mine for about 3 years now and there is slight wear on the left mouse button, however the rubber panel that runs down the middle of the device is showing no wear or tear ... ...you are one for eating at your computer as crumbs and dirt on your hands will stick to the ball and find its way on to the runners inside the mouse. I find that taking the mouse apart and cleaning it throughout has and will preserve the life of the device and make it funtion at its best.
There is no need for a mouse mat as the mouse stays stationary, therefore reducing the potential of incuring R.S.I in the long term. The device requires far less ...

I bought this mouse prior to the one that I own at the minute. This was bought from PC World for £19.99. This was and I think still is quite a bargain where trackball mice are concerned. The mouse itself takes a little bit of getting uesd to if you are not accustomed to using a trackball mouse. It also has USB connection that can be converted to p/s2 with the little converter that is included.
The mouse itself it quite comfortable. It also glows ... ...actual plastic ball when touched. All-in-all a great little mouse when it works and with that comment that is the drawback.
Although a great little mouse when workin, when not working it is highly frustrating. The first thing to go is the very pretty blue light, then the ball will stop responding even after cleaning the little wheels underneath the ball. I started to use a trackball, as a precaution against developing R.S.I. I had read that using a mouse is a contributory factor for R.S.I.
Movement
In order to move the pointer, you place a finger on the ball and then move the ball around. The ball is a pretty shade of blue and the rest of the trackball is silver. It is easy to keep clean and has been working perfectly for some months.
U.S.B.
The mouse has a U.S.B. connection, so make sure you have enough U.S.B. ports. Just plug it in and the software will start to load.
Getting used to it
At first, the trackball was tricky, but now I have got used to it and think that it does help. Also, it stops other family members from wanting to use my computer!!!

I love this mouse. It has a big blue marble that you roll around to move your cursor in a much, much more intuitive way than those horrid little mice you have to drive around your computer desk. I've been using a trackball for a year or two now - they do die, eventually, but my Kensington hasn't yet - and this is by far the best one I've tried. It doesn't seem to get sticky and dirty and sluggish like the older models. It just glides. One little push and my cursor's right across the screen, if I let it freewheel.
The price is really reasonable - I think I paid just under £30 for mine from Viking Direct, who, by the way, I would recommend as a great office supplier.
And this appeals so much to the child in me (trust me, you'll love it, too) - the big blue marble lights up when you touch it. Ohhhh! It's like having ...
Advantages: Bi - handed allowed, sleek (and modern), saves space, V.easy to use and it goes on. Disadvantages: Dust may cause problems - but its not as bad as the dust affects on a typical mouse.
KensingtonOrbitEliteKensington - http://www.kensington.com. I?m not to sure if Kensington is a well known brand. All I know is that they are a computing business whom produces various computing products such as mice and wireless products.
So far I?ve heard many positive feed backs from consumers who have bought Kensington products. I?m not to sure but I believe Kensington are slowly building up there companies image to represent their high quality products.
I also believe that their prices for products are relatively cheap compared to other businesses and they still deliver top quality.
