Advantages Smooth scrolling, easy on the hands, fast and responsive

Disadvantages Dies eventually

I love this mouse. It has a big blue marble that you roll around to move your cursor in a much, much more intuitive way than those horrid little mice you have to drive around your computer desk. I've been using a trackball for a year or two now - they do die, eventually, but my Kensington hasn't yet - and this is by far the best one I've tried. It doesn't seem to get sticky and dirty and sluggish like the older models. It just glides. One little push and my cursor's right across the screen, if I let it freewheel.

The price is really reasonable - I think I paid just under £30 for mine from Viking Direct, who, by the way, I would recommend as a great office supplier.

And this appeals so much to the child in me (trust me, you'll love it, too) - the big blue marble lights up when you touch it. Ohhhh! It's like having an electronic pet. Bless. I'm sure there are sensible reasons for it lighting up, too, but I just love the pretty blue light.

And, of course, to be sensible, if you spend as many hours on a computer as I do, you'll want to avoid RSI. A trackball helps with this. Not to mention the stress-free ease of not having to rev your silly little wheeled mouse up and down your desk.

Buy one!

(It takes a few uses to get used to a trackball mouse, if you've never used one before. Don't worry. It feels really funny at first, but don't give up and think you can't get on with one. You can. Keep trying. Play card games with it or something for a bit until you get used to it. It really doesn't take long. Persevere - it's definitely worth it! This one's especially good because you use your index and middle finger to guide the ball rather than your thumb.)
