Advantages Advantages Great looks, produces fantastic bread, simple to operate and understand.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Cost.

With the cost of shop bought bread rising quicker than dough I felt it would benefit me in the long run to buy a bread maker. Walking into the supermarket and smelling that freshly baked bread always makes me hungry, so having that same feeling in the comfort of your own kitchen seems really appealing, doesn't it? I chose the Kenwood BM450 due to its brushed stainless steel finish and dashing good looks. The price was a lot less tempting I have to say. At a cost of £90 it certainly was a big outlay for a bread maker, but I felt it would be worth it in the end. Since using the BM450 I quickly ... more

Advantages Advantages Good Instructions, Touch Screen Controls & Delicious Results

Disadvantages Disadvantages An Expensive appliance that might not get used so much in the future

I am probably one of the worst cooks ever so the idea of me baking my own bread was laughable. I thought my mum's suggestion for me to buy this bread maker was ridiculous and seemed like such a waste of money as i doubted i'd ever use it. But finally i gave in and bought it much to my mum's delight as she's been urging me to brush up on me cooking skills and try some home baking. First of all the appliance is a stylish looking one which fits in nicely with my modern kitchen as it's stainless steel with a black glass top. It is easy to wipe down which i do find myself doing a lot actually as ... more

Advantages Advantages Touch screen controls, viewing window, makes great bread

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be expensive and may occasionally break down

I chose the Kenwood BM 450 because of its stylish stainless steel with a black glass top with a viewing window. The appliance comes with an internal light to view the bread at different intervals. The control panel is entirely touch screen which makes the appliance easier to clean. I found that it is important to keep the manual close by as the buttons are not very clear. There are three weight options, 500g, 750g and 1kg and three crust options. I don't usually read manuals before using a new product however, when getting the bread maker out of the box, I realised that I had no idea where to ... more

Advantages Advantages Lovely bread, even on the 58 minute cooking setting; the best looking breadmaker around

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very large unit; chunky plug, Kenwood don't seem to check their products thoroughly

I am now onto my 3rd Kenwood BM450 in the space of 2 weeks. I bought my first one just before xmas at Currys - and was more than happy with it the first time I cooked. But the second time I used it the bulb blew (the BM450 has a light feature to allow you to see the bread cooking). It says in the instruction manual that you must take it to a Kenwood specialist to replace the bulb. As it had happened so soon after purchase, I took my breadmaker back to Currys and exchanged it for a second one. Disappointingly, this model (still the BM450) had a much larger plug. The first one had a normal ... more
