My can opener stopped working a couple of weeks ago. I had the can opener for many years. It served me well and I cannot grumble at all because it wasn’t an expensive one at the time I bought it. I always use an electric can opener because I find it much easier to open cans and find it just quick and easy to use.

When my can opener stopped working I had to quickly look around for another one and one that I could buy the same day. I spotted this one and liked the look of it because it was a silver one and my previous one was white. My kitchen accessories are silver and so I thought this one would match my kitchen. I had not previously bought a silver one because my white one was working perfectly fine and so it was not worth wasting money just because of the colour.

I bought this one from Argos. In the catalogue it looked really stylish for the price of just £16.99. It comes really well packed inside a box and it is wrapped in a clear plastic bag. When I first opened the box and took it out, I was absolutely amazed how big it actually was. It is a beauty in my opinion and as I said very stylish. It is a nice shiny metallic one and it is not a stainless steel one and kind of plastic. It has a black press down lever and the can has plenty of room to place underneath the lever. The can attaches really well under it and it spins round really well too to open the can. The back of it is a black glossy colour.

This one is quite a quiet can opener it does not make an awful noise as I have found some other brands to be over the year. I wouldn’t mind if it did make a loud noise to be honest but this one is fairly quiet. Kenwood is a good brand and this one is a super opener for the price and very good value for money. It is also a very good quality one too.

It has a really good wide base and it sits well on my kitchen worktop. It does not tip over and is really sturdy. It has a nice length flex which measures approximately a metre. It is a good length if you need to move it around the kitchen in a different area to where your socket may be. There is a wide hole at the back of the opener where you can push the flex into if you do not want the full length of the flex hanging out of the back of the opener. I just tuck some of the flex into this hole and the length of flex hangs well from the opener. It also has an attached plug.

It opens the cans in just a couple of seconds. It is also a knife sharpener. The sharpener is at the back of it and it has 2 grooves to sharpen the knives. I have used this a couple of times to sharpen some of my knives and it works really well. The knives can just easily be placed into the grooves taking good care not to scratch the glossy back and just then press the top lever, the same lever used to open cans. The knives can be gradually be drawn towards yourself and then just repeat, the amount of times repeating depends on how blunt your knives my be. Mine are quite sharp and so I only repeated twice. A noise of it grinding the knives can be heard while sharpening them.

When I used this the first time I found my knives had a sharper edge to them and I could see they had been sharpened well. It is advised that if too much pressure is applied that the grinding wheel may jam so it is a good idea to just press gently.

It is also a bottle opener. This is at the front of the opener on the top left hand side. I have opened a couple of bottles of J20 orange drinks using this opener and found just holding the top of the can opener and placing the bottle top under the bottle opener and just pulling in the usual way of using one of these.

This is also quite a lightweight one but it is still a very sturdy one. It is very easy to clean with a damp cloth and then just buff with a dry one. I absolutely love this can opener. It really is a very good one and looks amazingly stylish in my kitchen. I think it is one of the best ones I have ever bought for £16.99. I think it would suit any kitchen design and if you do not like the look of it then it can simply be placed into a cupboard because it measures approximately 9 inches in height and approximately 5 inches at the widest point of the base.

I definitely highly recommend this can opener to anyone looking to replace one or just buy one that matches your kitchen. It is a super one and one that gives me both the look and design and the working ability for a branded can opener in my opinion. I am actually now pleased my old one stopped working or I may never have been surprised on how nice this one actually is from Kenwood.

There is also an information leaflet inside the box for anyone wanting any additional information etc and this leaflet has good instructions for anyone who has never bought or used an electric can opener before in their lives.

I just think this one would be a nice gift idea for a wedding or house gift for anyone who has recently moved. I think if you do not have a lot of money and wanting a wedding gift idea, this one is so affordable and it actually looks more expensive than it actually cost and the receivers would think it cost a whole lot more because you get a lot for your money because it has 3 for the price of just a basic can opener in my opinion.
