Advantages: Quick and easy Disadvantages: A bit greasy

I think once the novelty wears off, he won't use it as much. I know that deep fat fryers are one of the most unhealthy ways to cook things, but they are handy to have. For a start chips taste much better when cooked in a deep fat fryer, (and I don't mean from the chip shop, much ... ...home. Chips will probably be the only thing that gets cooked in it. Chips will probably be the only thing that gets cooked in it. Ok so enough about me, I will get on with the product review.
Now this was a present from my mum and dad, and I think mum got the idea after I saw hers and said that must be so easy to clean. And it is so easy to clean, as it comes almost completely to bits. So what do you get? The instruction manual is very small and not a huge amount of information with it, but there really is not much to a deep fat fryer. The first page is a small paragraph explaining how easy this product is to use, all you do is take out the electrical part and you can wash the rest. The second page has a small part about how to safely use the product. Most of which is common sense, such as keep out of the reach of children, switch off when not in use, and other such things. This product should be cleaned before using it for the first time, but I will get to that in a bit.
PARTS OF THE FRYER
Removable lid with mesh filter
A window to view food while cooking (no need to open the lid every few minutes to see how the food is).
Bowl for putting your oil in.
Pouring spouts at 2 corners (makes it easy to empty the oil out).
Basket for food, with a handle attached for lifting the basket in and out of the oil.
Electronic unit, which has a temperature light and dial, to control the heat of the oil.
The body which can be wiped clean.
A bracket located at the back of the unit, this is for tidying away the cable when you are finished.
So the next thing to know is how do I put it all together, well I shall tell you. Insert the bowl with the min and max marks to the back of the unit, then put the electronic part into the bottom of the unit at the front. Then the oil goes in then the basket and all you have to do after that is to select the temperature you want. So to recap the things that come off, the lid, the basket, the bowl and the electronics part. Now on to how to clean the product.
This product should be cleaned before using it for the first time. The electrical part should be wiped with a damp cloth and dried thoroughly(never put this part into water). For the lid the basket and the bowl you should remove them and soak in hot soapy water for about 20 minutes, but if you have a dishwasher you can put everything except for the electronic part into your dishwasher. Know the fryer body should not be soaked and just cleaned with hot soapy water. All parts should be dried thoroughly before putting it back together.
There are some recipes in the manual, which are, Prawn balls, chicken kiev, and basic batter for coating food. I better hide this from hubby, he likes to batter everything, but I have told him the only thing he is allowed to cook in the fryer is chips.
So know you want to know what I think of it. Well I have taken it to bits and inspected it, and yes I have cleaned it. Yes it is so easy to clean, I don't own a dishwasher so I had to wash it by hand. After everything had soaked for the 20 minutes, the greasy oil lifted off without much effort, so thumbs up on the easy cleaning. I am not a huge fan of greasy food but I do love proper home made chips, and I still think that this will be the only thing I use it for, and hubby will not use it for anything else if I have my way. The manual suggest that you change the oil after about 8-10 uses, but I would say more like 6-8. As this was a gift I am not sure how much it was bought for but argos has it for around £50.
