I've had my Kenwood processor for over a year and absolutely love it and couldn't imagine life without it. I don't think a day goes by when I don't use it. I'm a vegetarian and find it really useful and very quick for preparing veg. I also like to bake, the dough mixer tool and the whisk really take the muscle burn out of mixing up a cake mixture. The blender part is also great for blending soups or making smoothies and cocktails. Really this one gadget can replace the need for many different items in your kitchen.
What's included: The food processor base unit has a nice rounded shape. It has a two speed control ( I never find the need to go past the first speed.) and a pulse button. Two bowls, the large one holds 2.9litre and the small 1.9litre 1.5litre Liquidiser Coffee Mill Citrus Press 3 different cutting discs which are stored in their own safety storage unit and do 2 different sizes of grating, 2 different sizes of slicing and 1 Julienne cut. Knife Blade Dough Tool, Double Whisk Soft Plastic Spatula Recipe Booklet Instructions Leaflet
The biggest let down of this product is the instruction leaflet which is basically an A3 sheet of paper folded and does not go into detail on how to piece all the bits together. After a few minutes of careful consideration I managed to figure out how to fit all the bits together apart from the small mixing bowl which I finally gave up on and have thrown away, as it was just cluttering up cupboard space. However I have forgiven Kenwood this small sin as I do truly love the product and find it simple and easy to use.
All the attachments are dishwasher friendly so easy to clean after use. The base unit doesn't look out of place sitting on a worktop, but is small and light enough that it can be stored in a cupboard and brought out when needed. Mine is white, but I know the newer ranges also come in silver, but at a higher the price and the only difference that I can see apart from the colour is more speeds that I don't imagine anybody needing.
Finally, as I have said I have had mine for just over a year and no problems and my sister who recommended the product to me has had hers for about three years also without any problems. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product to anyone and would imagine that the newer versions would be just a reliable.
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
A fair review here but Im wondering since buying my parents the older model (FP 470) what the vital differences are. Youve given the list of attachments on what the processor does but no vital info as to how they perform for you which is a shame as the review serves as a fine incentive review to future consumers. By the looks of the photo, you also get the excellent disc storage box as we did with our older food processor. My mum however isnt happy with our Kenwood - its far too noisy and the design of the jug means once its been through the dishwasher, water gets into the seals and joins of the double plastic handle which means water is difficult to take out. Perhaps in time if you do use each attachment you can update your review with info - having just bought a Chef for my mum too, it seems Kenwood just cant make anything these days with a quiet motor.
