I purchased this product mainly for making cake mix, not quite realising how useful it was going to be. It comes with many attachments that you can use on absolutely anything, I have used this to chop my carrots for a roast, to make mash potato (which comes out lovely and smooth), to make smoothies, (it says in the instruction manual you can make smoothies leaving the skin on most fruit, this is something i haven't yet tried, i peel my fruit first), and obviously i have made cake mix with it. Having always made cake mix by hand i will admit i should have brought this product sooner, i just throw everything in the mixing bowl, turn the knob and about 60-90 seconds later it's all mixed, this has helped me produce the best cakes i have ever made. The power knob has different speeds and there is also a pulse for helping with things that need just a quick whizz. It is impossible to turn it on without clicking the bowl into place first as there is an internal switch /mechanism, i suppose you could turn it on without having the lid on properly, but this isn't something i'm willing to try. One of the down falls of this product is you get so much with it, different sized bowls, plastic and metal blades, juicer, blender and even a spatula, plus many more items, that there is absolutely no-where to store everything. If you buy the basic product with minimal extras then everything is fine, but if like me, you buy it with absolutely everything, i would advise you to make sure you have a spare cupboard to put it all in, definately not a product for a kitchen with limited space. The cleaning of this product isn't too bad, obviously the size of the bowls do not make it easy for drying space, but basically it requires very minimal effort, just be careful when cleaning the blades as it is easy to forget how sharp they are (i do not know if it can go in a dishwasher as i do not have one). Overall i would say, apart from the size, this is a fantastic addition to my kitchen and i couldn't live without it.
