...many before I saw a Kenwood kettle for £12.49.
Now this seemed far too cheap for something with a good name but the kettle wasn't a flashy, modern design. It was plain white plastic. There were no shiny gizmos, whistles or bells on it. I thought perhaps it was an end of line bargain, especially as there were only two boxes on the display, so I had a closer look.
Inside the kettle is an opaque plastic container with a space to fit a water filter ... ...a 2 litre capacity but Kenwood recommend you only fill it to 1.7 litres, which seems plenty for everyday use.
Polished element to reduce scale build-up: This is great. So easy to clean.
360 degree power base: I think this means you can put it where you want so it's conveniently placed for right or left handed users.
Free Aqua Optimate water cartridge: Yes. It did include one and very good it was too.
Flip lid/illuminated switch for single handed ...

Advantages: boils very quickly, 360 base rotation, low price, light weight, sturdy Disadvantages: water can collect in the hinge around the top
I bought my Kenwood kettle six months ago and I can honestly say it is the best kettle I ever ever found. This is for the simple fact that it boils water more quickly than any other kettle I have used.
I first looked for this Kenwood kettle when I noted that 'Which' consumer magazine gave it a top rating and put it in a 'best buy' square for top honours. Apparently it was the fastest boiler of all on test. The knowledge that 'Which' rated it highly ... ...coupled with the fact that Kenwood are generally good for appliances. So off I went and after browsing at a few other designs with various features I settled on this model as it appeared to have everything I wanted. It cost me 13.99 from Amazon. I think this price is very reasonable and a wonderful bargain for such an important and basic buy for every kitchen. You should loko around at the prices though as I have seen it on sale for over £20 in some ...

Advantages: Looks great, easy to use, swivel base, different colours Disadvantages: spout may take some getting used to
...accepted as I know that Kenwood is supposed to be good. I also know that she paid around £17 for it.
If you buy it from Comet you can opt for the £12, 3 year cover but personally i wouldnt bother, i mean for a few extra quid you can buy a new one, and my friend has had her's 2 and a half years at least and its far from the scrapheap yet!
I've got the box here and full set of instructions which you won't need really but if you do its all in there.
... ...know just how much water is in it, and also if your filling it up you can watch to see when its full rather then waiting for it to either spill out over the top or wait until it gets really heavy and hope its nearing the top. The one I have is the white one, I'm told it can also come in different colours so thats definitely a plus, pick the one that matches your kitchen. Personally I would have gone for a bright one if i had chosen it.
I've noticed ...

What a wonderful piece of equipment!
I got this marvellous machine for my birthday (after months of dropping hints) and am absolutely thrilled.
As one would expect from the Kenwood brand this machine is a joy to have in the kitchen. Previously I... more
I'm not really that much of a cook however when I do prepare things I like to have all the relevant gadgets I need.

This food processor was a replacement for my last Kenwood that expired after over 25 years of use.
The motor is housed beneath the bowl and this makes it very compact, and I am keeping it out on the worktop, the previous model was a big cream ugly thing more
This was initially an impulse buy but in 6 months of use is now a necessity.
