I bought this because I wanted a basic model with RDS radio, CD player and somewhere to plug in an MP3 player, from a good manufacturer. I like it a lot, but there are things you need to know or it'll drive you crazy:
a) buy an aerial adaptor (long thin thing) to plug into it (I guess you might have one, but I didn't and had to go back).
b) to switch the demo mode off first press SRC to get it to standby. Then press and hold the tiny button on the left that says menu. It will say something like beep on. Then tap the little joystick on the right towards FM until it says demo. Then press the joystick in for two seconds until it says demo off. The instructions explain this really badly, and the scrolling demo mode writing is dangerously distracting when driving, especially at night.
c) go through the menu to aux (same way you got to demo) and switch it to on by moving the joystick to the right, otherwise you won't be able to plug your mp3/phone/satnav in. Well you will, but you won't hear anything.

I've owned Kenwood head units before and quit liked um, as you mention in your review the demo mode thing drives me up the wall too and this is on a different make and model to yours.... the bad thing is I ain't worked out how to turn my rubbish off yet ! I'm sure you've made a lot of people feel a whole lot better about their KDC-237's with your advice here! ... cheers ...Terry.

Thanks tabes; having search pretty fruitlessly myself (lots of people complaining about it but not really telling you exactly what to do) I decided to write it myself - figured google would find it eventually!!

Thanks for the tip on Demo off and Aux mode, I think I would have probably taken it back if it wasn't for your post, I thought the aux wouldn't work then I remebered reading your review mentioning the menu button. Great thing the internet.
