If I was totally honest it would be fair to say that I needed a new Kenwood like a hole in the head - after all how many virtually retired batchelors really need a food processor?
But over the decades I collected unpteen very usefull accessories and no less than four Kenwood mixers of mixed vintage, all of which were excellent for one task or another. However none were compatable with all the tools I owned, and visa versa!

Over the years I have had several KenwoodChef food mixers and I still have two of them a 701A and an 901A but my favourite one is the oldest one - the 701A. I think it dates from the 1970s, is retro in appearance and it is still in amazingly good condition and the motor works well and quietly. I prefer the older model because it is really heavy so it does not bounce around when you run it fast. It is blue and white in colour and I think it is becoming very collectable as well as excellent to use. The original KenwoodChef was developed by Ken Wood and was launched in 1950 . It was originally made in the UK but now it is made in the Far East. The basic shape of it has stayed very similar over the years and today there are six different chef models made with different power outputs but I personally would prefer to find another 701 ...
